my cousin is looking for a RH for a winter themed wedding

Original post by gabbie83

my cousin got engaged this past november and is looking to have a January 2009 wedding -
She doesn't want anything fancy like chandelirs and marble floors, more of a wooden floor plain decor look - (not tooo plain) lol
any suggestions? nothing toooo far out east, as we are in Queens.

THanks for any advice!

She's lookign for a Saturday Night Wedding Probably around 200 ppl.

That's where I'm having my RH and I have to tell you the room is so beautiful! Especially at night, you can do a lot with candles and they have a nice fireplace too! The whole ceiling is a sky light!

I just realized WGP/Fox Hollow won't hold 200 ppl. The max is 150

The Inn at New Hyde Park. It is a dark wood decor. Really beautiful for a winter theme. And they have a big lobby area with a huge fireplace when you walk in.

On January 6, 2007 i went to a baptism reception at Milleridge Inn (specifically the carriage house) ...it was pretty in it's own right, but I would hardly say it was overly festive or outwardly winterish.

I had been there before for another baptism reception during the summer, and it was gorgeous, especially since you could go outside and walk around during cocktail hour and afterwards. In January, we couldn't go outside and the cocktail hour felt more cramped and lacked some umpf.

This is, of course, only one person's experience...I'm sure others have had different experiences there in winter.

The Carriage House is very different than the Cottage though. . .its much smaller, the Cottage is anything but cramped.

But everyone has their own experiences :)
