My dad

My dad and I have always had a close relationship. However, I find that I am getting closer to him since I became pregnant.

The last time times I was in NY. I was laying on the bed watching TV. He came over and touched my face and said 'my baby is having a baby.' It was beautiful moment that I will never forget.

I called him the other day, and told him I want him to come up with mom when I have the baby. My mom said that he was excited that I asked him to do that. He has decided to save some vacation time so he could be here.

I bought him a fathers day card with a father teaching a little girl how to waltz. The girl was standing on her dad's feet. When I saw the card, it remined me of us because he used to do that. When he opened the card, he admitted that tears came to his eyes.

Last night I asked the big question. Would he be in the room? He said he feels honored that I asked, but he would have to think about it.

I think my dad is becoming a softee since his baby is having a baby.

I got goosebumps reading your thread. Yep looks like daddy is becoming mushy mush for his little girl!! Its funny how any guy has to think twice before going into the delivery room. When we were born men werent allowed so it will be a totally new experience for him...

ENjoy the bonding with daddy, and just imagine the precious bonding between child and grandpa in the very near future !!!

Aw Natasha, you got me teary eyed!!!! I'm extremely close to my dad (I have a sister, but she's my mother's fav and I'm my dad's)!! I'm his 'figlia mia' and even though my sister had a baby first and my father was overjoyed, etc, it seems like he's more worried/concerned/into my pregnancy, I think more so since I had a miscarriage before. He's always asking me how I am and making sure I'm ok.

I think that's why Joe wants a little girl because he says that girls always love their daddies!!!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful story. My dad & I have had our ups & downs in the past, but a baby ALWAYS changes things. I'd love to give him a granddaugher to have that special relationship with!!

My dad was there for my last brother.

He hasn't decided. But he said he will think about it. I think he is worried about seeing me in pain. If he decides he doesn't want to be there. I would be satisfied to know that he will waiting anxiously at the door, and that he will be there for a few days after the baby is born.

thanks for sharing Natasha. I am of course tearing up here,.,. I miss my mom and dad and think of them everyday. It was hard for me to go into labor and they were not there,,,maybe they were in spirit, who knows?

That's great that you & your Dad have such a wonderful relationship. Your child will be blessed to have him to call Grandpa. My Mom was in the room when I gave birth to Lukie and it was great. She was so in awe of the miracle, it was wonderful to see how happy it made her to be there.

Natahsa, That is so adorable....Brought tears to my eyes too....I am not PG now nor am I TTC, Heck, not even getting married till next October....but I have a very special bond with my dad, and being I live in RI and my family is in NY, it makes him MUSH...since I went to college in 96, the moved to RI permanently in 2000...its so special when I go home...jeez..I miss being in NY....We have become even MORE close since I live further away...I'm daddys ONLY girl...so no doubt I am his fave!

That is so beautiful. I always wished I had that type of relationship with my father, and he passed away before I even had my son.

I can only hope that if I ever have a little girl that my fh and her will have such a beautiful relationship.
