My Daddyshort update on page 2

So, it turns out that during our wedding, my dad was having a heart attack. He knew it, but didn't want to 'ruin or miss the day' and acted as if he was all fine and dandy.
That's my dad, it's what he does.

Well, I didn't find out about any of this until I got HOME from the HONEYMOON.
I understood their reasoning...but JEEZ! Ya, know?

Anyway, he's doing okay, he had several arteries that were blocked like 100% and they did an angioplasty and put stints in.

I thought that was the end of it. Apparently not.

He's in the hospital today having more work done, and while I'm pretty sure it's a 'standard' angioplasty that they are doing, I am always out of the loop when it comes to my parents' health issues.

My dad is not young, and while I'm sure he'll be fine, I'm quite nervous and worried about him.

I'm used to my mom being sick, she's been 'sick' since I was 5. But my dad... he's our rock. and the fact that there is something wrong with him, scares me and is totally messing with my head.

I'm sorry this is so long, but I can't talk to anyone in my family about this, b/c they just tell me I need to be strong so my mom and dad don't know I'm upset, plus a few of them have point blank told me that it's MY fault b/c the wedding caused the heart attack. I guess I just needed a place to let these feelings out.

Just wanted to let you know that i'm thinking of you and your family. I know what it feels like to have two sick parents (my dad just had emergency heart surgery last friday) please fm me if you ever need someone to talk to. I'll pray for your dad.

i will keep your dad in my prayers that is very cruel that they would say it is your fault it is not your fault you did not cause this his ateries were clogged but do not let anyone put the blame on you that is so wrong

How could someone be so callous as to say its your fault!! Of course it isn't and you should be able to let your feelings out about how this is affecting you. If you can't do it at home then let it out here. I'm so sorry to hear this. You and your family are in my prayers

He really is... If life were an english class, his unselfish behavior would be his tragic flaw.

thank you to all of you, this site may have it's drama llamas, but it's also got very caring, supportive ladies who are there to help when the going gets tough.

Thanks Heather! It's always good to hear from people who've 'been there' Like I said, I know how this goes, my mom had it done, and my dad has had it done in the past as well as a month ago... and I know that it's done 'out patient' so he can most likely come home today...

I just... I can't handle my dad not being 100% at all times. It's a lot of pressure for him I'm sure... but when I was little I could handle my mom being as sick as she is, b/c I knew that Daddy would ALWAYS be there... and the older we both get... the more I realize...

okay enough of this.

lots of prayers for you and your family!! It sounds pretty routine for a heart attack ...the work that he's having done. regarding the comments - I can ONLY guess that these people are acting out of anger, frustration and fear. ITS INEXCUSABLE what they said - but to help YOU let go of it - maybe just try and remember that everyone reacts to stress differently. again - CATEGORICALLY WRONG!!!! but don't waste your energy on this at ALL - your dad needs that energy as do you! so spend it on people and things that are worth while!!!!!

How dare your family say it's your fault that your dad had a heart attack..or the wedding cause it!!!

I just wanted to give a brief update...
The procedure is over, and we were told that he's doing fine. They aren't letting him come home like he said he would, but that actually helps calm me down b/c if he were here I'd be worried, so while he's there they can take care of him and keep an eye on him. My brother said the Dr. sounded like it was routine to keep him over night.
