My DH wants Casey to stay outside during the day....

and I am NOT happy about it. He wants her to stay in the (fenced) yard all day while we are at work. He wants to buy her a dog house and maybe tie her on a long rope to keep her in the yard. She is currently crated all day and has tons of energy so he feels bad and thinks this will be better for her.
What do you guys think? I would be a nervous wreck all day. She could get out...someone could take her.....it could pour rain...she could get too hot....anything could happen!

Is Casey fixed?? If not, it's a good idea to that. It is supposed to calm the dog down.

No, I dont like the idea of being chained up. What if he gets caught accidently. What happens when it gets hot out?? When Casey graduates from his crate will DH let him walk around the house?? Tiger now does, but we have a baby gate in the one room that has carpeting.

Yes, when she gets out of the chewing stage she will be allowed to roam in the house. We'll probably keep the gate up on the stairs though.

Why not let the dog have a few rooms in the house for goodness sake?
don't put her outside: people could take her and they do horrible things. Also, it's not fair to your neighbors if she's a barker.

Mrs TC- Our Casey is a mutt- she's part Collie/part Australian Shepard. Very white and fluffy!
I was away for a few days but we just got the doggie door delivered! It's actually only 15 inches high and 17 inches wide- big enough for our slightly chubby 75lb doggie to go in and out but i don't think a robber would fit in....we will have to be careful about opossums!

really.....that would be fine for my Casey - LOL about the opossums - we have those nasty things here too - so gross!
