Re: My dilema!
what I did was just either send an email or ask them personally, most people will not be offended b/c they know weddings are for families. My deadline passed and I offered additional slots to guest after some family and friends declined. People understand. I don't think anyone will be offended, go ahead and offer the slots. I even invited friends who I told that I was waiting for family to respond. I just gave them the invite as a sort of a formality.

Can you make your own responce card on the PC? this way you can move the date of the responce.. then they wont feel like you asked at the last minute..

Re: My dilema!
My brother ran into this after they had to change their date due to a death in the family. What he did was invite our younger brothers close friends. (we've known them since they were in diapers) & my best friend. You can invite co-workers, neighbors, ask our parents if they want to invite anyone else. On a side note I went to see a semi-friend get married at the church (I wasn't invited to the reception) Well they told me at the receiving line that her Aunt was in a car accident so her & her husband wouldn't be going. And they invited me to the reception rightthere & then. I ran home got changed bought a card & had a ball!!!

Re: My dilema!
One of my BM was asked the night before a friend's wedding and she accepted. I would be very happy to be invited to someone's wedding to help them celebrate their day.
I hope you get the people you need to fill the slots. Oh yes I offered my mom a couple more guest as well.

Re: My dilema!
If someone asked me last minute I would not be offended. By the way, out of curiousity, how many people responded no? I just sent my invites out and havent got much no's. Good luck and I hope you fill those spots.

I think this happens a lot. But I do not have a B list either. I would just pay the extra money. If there is someone you really wanted to invite but didn't think you could due to space just speak with them and give them an invite. I am sure they will understand.

Re: My dilema!
whats a B list? If my wedding is in May, when should I send out invites?
your venders can help you fill your minimum...I know you usually get a deal for vendors, but since you have to pay for them anyway...you may as well count them as full meals...

Re: My dilema!
Debbie, my contract reads like yours. Vendors and children are added after the minimum is met. But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Re: My dilema!
That is definitely the standard, you meet the room minimun first then your vendors get their meals at a discounted price.

Re: My dilema!
Why not buy response cards and get a later reply date imprinted on them. This way it doesn't look as if they have been from the 'B' list.
as for vendors and children...you can't get the DISCOUNTED rate...but you may be able to give them the full-price meal that you already paid for...call your hall and ask...

COLLEEN where are you getting married, I know some places,.... if you dont meet your minimum, yes you have to pay the money but they dont just take your money they make it up to you w/ food for e.g. give you ice sculptures or viennesse if you dont already have one.... some type of extra ask your banquet manager
