. I dont know why my doc never said anything to me? What if I hadnt known and shown up with an empty bladder. Luckily my friend told me what to do. Im going to call on Mon but is that weird or what?

My first sono at 10 weeks I didn't need a full bladder. Maybe because it was an internal one?

The 20 week one I needed a full bladder, but I went to a radiologist's office that my OB/GYN referred me to and they told me all that when I called for the appt.

My 7 week was an internal, my 10 week was an external (but my bladder was empty), my 12 week was an external (empty bladder), my 18 week was an external (full bladder) and my 23 week was an external (empty bladder).

The reason they make you have a full bladder when you are further along is so the bladder can push the uterus up so they can see the cervix better. It has nothing to do with the baby. You probably dont need a full bladder cause its either going to be an internal or they just want to see the baby.

I think every doctor is different. Some doctors say full bladder and some say empty and make you empty before.

My first sonogram was internal and the nurse had told me they weren't even giving me one so I had no clue but I had a urine test before this so my baldder was empty. For my first u/s at 11 weeks - they told me to drink 16 oz of water a half hour before which I did and the u/s tech told me I should have drank more.

at 12 weeks i had a sonogram and my bladder was empty. the technician sent me out of the room and i had to drink two glasses of water and wait an hour for them to take me back in.

very annoyed that no one mentioned it to me.

then at 21 weeks when i went for my next sonogram, i filled my bladder -- and apparently i didn't need to!
