My brother just called me a few minutes ago. Our family dog who is 13 and 1/2 yrs old has been really sick for a while. But today my brother woke up and she can not control herself she's going to the bathroom allover the house and he tried to get her to stand up and she won't stand up. She is just laying down and shaking. So my brother has been laying down with her holding her. My mom left work to take her to the vet. I wanted them to wait for me becasue we know the vet is going to say she has to be put down. But I work in the city and by the time I would have gotten to LI it would have been a little before 12 so we didn't want her to suffer just so I can say goodbye. They are actually at th vet now so I am waiting for the dreaded phone call from my mom. I can't even work right now I've just been crying. We've had her since I was 13 and this will be the 2nd dog that has had to be put down. And here I go crying again......

I am so sorry to hear about this, we had many issues with my dog this year and I know how difficult it is to have apet you love so much be sick and in pain. FH had to put his dog down a few years ago, and we know how incredibly hard it is, dogs really are a part of our families, so again, I'm sorry you're going through this, sending tons of hugs and prayers your way!

I am so so sorry lisa.. I know how hard that is. I just had to put my 14yr old dog down about 3 months ago. Just remember all the great memories with your dog. Your dog lived a very long and happy life. This is so sad. I am sorry!

ETA: The first dog I had got very sick suddenly and died in her favorite spot. I remember that day like it was yesterday and this was almost 10 years ago. She was only 7. I feel your pain. I am so sorry.

I'm praying for you, know that at least your little one is surrounded with loved ones. Thank God you have a wonderful family to care for the pup in this way. Whatever you need, we're here for you. Your post made me tear. I have a family dog and my own dog. I haven't gone through this yet but the thought breaks my heart. I can imagine how you feel.

We just had to put my 13 year old Maltese down last week. Watching him degenerate was so very sad, but I try to remember all of the good times. It's so hard! You're definitely in my thoughts. It's hard to believe how fast time passes.

I just got the call our dag Peachees was put down. The vet had even said if she was his dog he would have put her down too. My mom stayed with her when she was put down but my poor brother was too upset to stay in the room and had to wait in the waiting room. I know she is in doggy heaven with our other dog Rosie and our cat Honey.

Dogs are so special, and we should always feel blessed that we get to spend the time we do with them. it's such a special bond. People who don't have dogs think we're crazy, but we don't care, because they are like our kids! Please let us know if you need anything!

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
