My dog isn't feeling good ~ please give advice

Arnold is acting so out of it all of a sudden. He's trembling, cries out sometimes when we pet his back right leg (although he's walking fine), and looks dazed.

I am crying and crying, but Patrick says we should wait till morning to see how he feels.

Any advice? Please??

I'm so sorry, I know how much you love Arnold. I would call Central Vet in Valley Stream, tehy are 24 hours and I call them anytime I need advice.

I hope he is feeling better soon~!

when you say he is out of it, is he bumping in to the walls? Did he urinate himself? We had a dog who was an epilleptic and had seizures when you guessed it, when it was a full moon. He would not take his pill and would go into a fit. Foam at the mouth, walk around dazed and make horrible crying sounds like he was in pain. Then he would snap out out of it like nothing happend.

I dont know what to say. Do you have an emergency animal hospital in your area.
I hope Arnold feels better
It is so heartbreaking to see them in pain

Re: My dog isn't feeling good ~ please give advice

Hi - I have been having problems with my little maltese all year. I did some blood work at my vets and they diagnosed her with cushings. I didnt feel like I was getting enough answers at my vet. I did tons of research and found a wonderful specialist place for animals. It is open 24 hours. I usually see the owner there. She is an internist. It is in Westbury and I come from Smithtown. I was just there this week and people there were raving about the place. There were people there from all over. Now I find out she may of not had cushings. A regular veterinarian is great for shots, etc..the basics, but if you are having other problems and want answers there are other places to go. If you do take Arnold to your vet and do not feel like you got the full answers, FM me for the info. I know how upsetting it is to see your little fur baby not feeling well. Hang in there...

I actually had an epileptic dog too, and it's not like that. I wish it were, because at least then I'd feel like I knew what to do.
He's just so quiet, and not himself. Doesn't react the way he normally does to key words like 'car' or 'cookie'. And this just came out of the blue...

I can't stop crying. He and Patrick are sound asleep together... and I'm a mess.

Thank you so much. I will NOT mind making the trip. I'm in Smithtown as well, and I'd drive any where for Arnold. No one but another pet lover would understand.

I'm sorry, they are a vet, but they have really nice trained technicians who answer the phones and tell you staright out if you should bring him inm, or just wait until tomorrow. I always call there T LIKE 2 OR 3am when Maxie and Momo get sick.

Hugs to you and Arnold~!

You may want to give Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview a call. I know it's nowhere near Smithtown, but they're supposed to be excellent. And they have emergency services from 6pm to 8am.

I would definately bring him to a clinic that is open now just to make sure its nothing too serious and then follow up with your vet in the morning.

He could have gotten bit by something like a tic or stung by a bee and could be having an effect to something like that.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!!!

Re: My dog isn't feeling good ~ please give advice

Okay, I ALMOST took him last night, but then I didn't because he was sleeping so peacefully. I figured if he could sleep, then it could probably wait.

This morning his personality is 250% himself, but when Patrick touched his ear playfully he cried, so I'm calling the vet at 9am when they open. Hopefully it'll be nothing more than an ear infection.

Thank you so much for being here last night to give comfort. I was so upset... I'm sure you all know how scary it is when a pet isn't acting normally. Patrick was no help because he just curled up with Arnie and went to sleep!

Jenn ~ Buddy is the Jack, Arnold is the poodle.

to you all!!!
