My dress came in and it looks HORRIBLE!

I was so sad when I went to see my dress. I waited 9 months and paid a lot of money for the dress and it wasn't what I expected. Don't get me wrong, I still love the design of my dress but it was too short. I asked them to take my height measurement before they ordered it but they said they don't need to. The dress will come in full length and they'll hem it when it comes in because it doesn't have any beads on the bottom and it'll be an easy hem. Well it came in, and it was hemmed. How does it come from the designer like that when they don't have my height measurement? I asked the salon if they can lengthen the dress. She said she can add fabric and I said won't you see a seam? She said the seamstress will take a look at it. when I have my first fitting. The dress was also too big. They have to take in 3' on the chest, 2' on the waist and 6' on the hip. Why do they bother taking measurements if they're not going to order my dress to my size?

OMG! That is so horrible, I hope it all works out for you. Unfortuntely I have heard of dress shops ordering the dress too big so they can charge you more in alterations....thats terrible that this happened to you. Which shop did this occur at?

I don't think you are picky; after all you are paying top dollar for a dress you are only going to wear once. Also, they did not want to take your lenght measurements so that was their mistake. They should have listened You are allowed to ask for whatever you want....you are paying for it. It is not like the dress is free......

no way, its your wedding dress. you should feel great about it and in it! every inch or half inch makes a difference.

It doesn't seem like they want to order another dress. They think they can fix the length. I have a fitting scheduled for next week. I'll see how it goes. At this point, the last thing I want to do is piss them off.

OMG I am so sorry to hear this I had a similar experience with my gown coming in 3 sizes too big. The bridal shop would not do anything to make good on what I felt was a mistake, either on their part in measuring or the manufacturer mislabeling the size gown that was sent. The only thing they could tell me was that I should do 3 - 4 fittings that would cost me an additional $400

OMG you have to FM me and everyone who the hell this vendor is and have them blasted off this forum!

Its their fault for not accurately measuring you, and why would they hem it without measuring you?????

Seriously, threaten to report to BBB!

That is not acceptable! Its their fault!


If you feel it is too short, its too short. But if they seem an extra inch or so, they can put beeding along the seem to match the style of your dess to hide the seem. But if this is the only reasonable compramise they should do the work for free.

Keep in good spirits, and be strong don't let them push you around.
