Has anyone been told that they're dress would be in in a few months and out of the blue been called bc 'the dress is in'?
I'm only asking because I ordered my dress three weeks ago and was told that it would be in in December. They called me last week to tell me the dress is in.
I just find it very suspicious and am beginning to wonder if they're selling me the sample. The dress I ordered was the exact same size and color as the sample.
hummmmmm does sound funny. You can always check when you go to see if sample is still there. There may have also been one ready in warehouse in your size. Sometimes they premake certain styles.

I was there this week and for some reason didn't think to ask to see the sample.
What made it even worse was that I bought a tiara and when got home realized that it was defective (stones were missing, glue covering a bunch of stones AHH). They wouldn't order a new one until I brought in the defective one. Which to me sounds like they were just going to try to fix that one instead of ordering a new one. After some arguing over the phone they agreed to order another one.
I'm so disgusted and stressed!

Definitely check the store for the 'sample dress' Also check the dress they give you... check for stains outside (hem area where people step) and inside the dress (underarm area).

Definitely ask to see the sample when you get there. It is possible that since your dress was the same size as the sample, the warehouse would have the same dress and color in that size. I hope it's a new dress for your sake!

That does sound suspicious... I didn't order the first dress I saw specifically because I thought they were gonna sell me the sample. I'm wondering if its the same place. Where did you go? If you are feeling any more discomfort I would get away from that place right away and take it somewhere else for alterations. You are never required to have your dress altered at the place you ordered it from.

did you order from David's Bridal? DB almost always brings in dresses WAY faster than they originally tell you.

Re: MY DRESS CAME IN SUSPICIOUSLY EARLY W/PIC
My dress was due to come in Nov (05), i got a call in Aug (05) that it was in. I went to just make sure it was the right dress and tried it on. I'd had fears it would be too small or the wrong dress.
Nope, all was fine.
Some stores and designers factor in extra time, JUST incase

Davids Bridal is known for doing this. Alot of the time they will fix up the sample dress and try to pass it off as one they ordered specifically for you. Hope everything works out!

My dress came in 6 weeks! No worries. They prob just had it in stock! Check the tags...there should be brand new tags on it.

I'm glad you brought up the tag aspect. My tags had swatches on it (white, ivory, oyster). Is that normal?

Mine came in way early too, they told me that sometimes you get lucky. I would just go look at the dress, you'll be able to tell if it's a sample.

Yes, I would definitely check the store for the sample next time you go in, but I wouldn't sweat it! Consider it a blessing!!! I ordered my dress in December 2007, they told me it would take 6 months and it JUST came in a week and a 1/2 ago and my wedding is in less than a month! Just be glad that you have it!

Maybe they had a cancellation on a dress?

That does not sound normal to me at all. Sounds like the tags one would find on a sample dress.

If you ordered the something within the standard range of usual samples, they may have had a dress at the warehouse ready to go in case someone ordered that sample in that size. It hasn't been tried on or anything, it was just earmarked for possible use as a sample.

It sounds more to me that the manufacturer had your size/color in stock and shipped it out.
I would go see it and try it on but I doubt they sold you the sample. I was able to get my bridesmaid dresses in 3 weeks because they were in stock and the manufacturer was past the summer rush.
