My dress is in! But I'm not ready...

My dress is in! But I'm not ready...

Yay, my wedding gown is in! Crap...I still need to get my shoes, jewelry, spanx, etc. AND lose more weight before I do my fitting. It was supposed to be in mid to late March - and while I AM glad it's in, I'm nowhere near ready to do my fitting and alterations! I would really like to wait till mid March or so to do it. Wedding is 4/20 so as long as I do it before april that should be enough time for the alterations to be done. The notification said it's in storage until the appt. - will they store it for a month or so and then I can do my fitting? Anyone know if bridal shops do this in general? Or will I have to take it home and then bring it back when I'm ready for the fitting? I'd rather not.

I'm also a little worried that it could be the wrong size, or even the wrong dress or something horrible - so part of me wants to go soon. However I really do want to lose some more weight before the fitting so I'd like to wait till March. Anyone dealing with early dress arrival? Thoughts/advice please! Also anyone have their alterations done at Bridal Suite of Bayshore?

I went to see my dress but did not put it on. I went in two months before because I needed three fittings. You wouldnt know this until you go. It was nice to have my dress home three weeks before. Honestly I didnt loose so much weight at the end. That was prob cause I wasnt stressed and I just enjoyed the last three weeks going out to celebrate, so my weight was maintained. I also didnt have my shoes but used shoes with the same heel height

You can go just to see the dress and make sure they ordered the right one and even try it on without them taking measurements and then make another appt for the actual fitting when you have all your garments. At least you can see where you stand as far as losing anymore weight...

My bridal salon made me go in just to do a try on to make sure everything was ok w the dress. It's a good time to gauge how much you want to loose. I Ryan set up an apt in April for first fitting, then two weeks later for second fitting the a. Week before my wedding is final try on and pick up.

I did this in July! My dress was in super early but they wanted me to make sure evening was ok.

I agree go check it out even if you don't try it on. My FSIL had a nitemare experience with a wrong size ordered and had to find a new dress two weeks before the wedding!

Go look at your dress to make sure everything is OK. My dress arrived last week and I went in and tried it on. My place is holding the dress, most do, I think David's bridal won't store a dress.
My wedding is June 1st and the first fitting will be 6 weeks before.
It is such a great feeling trying on your dress for the first time, I recommend doing this if your salon allows it.

Yeah, most bridal salons will do a first try on, before there is even a fitting. Definitely go do that!

Most bridal salons will hold the dress until the day before the wedding. I would at least go see it and make sure it's right, even if you aren't ready to actually put it on yet.

I'm also 4/20 and I went to visit my dress when it came in to make sure there were no issues. My first fitting is 2/19. I would at least go see it to make sure there't nothing wrong with it.
I never heard of them sending the dress home unless you aren't having them do your alterations.

This! I had a try on just to make sure everything was ok. I actually had major dress trying on anxiety b/c I thought maybe it wasn't the right one. I'm so glad I went to try it on because it relieved some of my stress and I realized it IS the one. You'll feel beautiful in it if your try it and I agree, you'll get a better idea of how much you want to lose. I bet you feel so good in it that you'll realize you don't have to lose as much as you think! :)
