my dress is IN!!!!! when to go for first fitting?

just got a call from kleinfelds saying that my dress is in!!!

wedding isn't until may 28th... how long should i wait before my first fitting?

part of me wants to wait a while so i can drop a few pounds but the other part wants to see my dress!!!!!

Its usually about 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

YAY!!

Alex, my first fitting is in (yelp) 2 and a half weeks-- Feb 26th.. for my April 16th wedding.

I also went in like two weeks ago to check on it- to make sure all the changes and stuff were right.. I recco doing that since you'd prob be waiting like a month and a half for a fitting.

great, so i've got some time to whip my arse into shape at least a little

good idea, to go in and just check it out. i also need to get a swatch of the fabric for makeup, etc...

How exciting! Can you go in just to see and try on the dress, even if you're not getting it fitted that day?

hmm... not sure about trying it on... that may also vary from salon to salon.

Congrats! I would definitely go and see it right away...for two reasons ... 1-it's awesome to see it on you in YOUR size! 2- I've said it before - if you need to loose a few pounds, seeing yourself in the dress will definitely make you stick to a diet! It definitely wired my jaw shut for a few weeks!
Good luck. oh and i didn't go for my first fitting until 5 weeks before and she didn't want me back until wednesday of this week for more alterations and I have 3 weeks!

Alex when I went I didn't get a swatch- they need to cut the dress to give you that.

Alex when I went I didn't get a swatch- they need to cut the dress to give you that.

i was sort of hoping that they have samples of the anne barge colors/fabrics... but i am basing that on absolutely no previous knowledge if they have to cut the dress, forget it, obviously. but at least i will be able to take some pics of the dress.

I requested a sample of the color- but it was just a swatch that could have been up to '4 shades lighter or darker' than my dress- since it was not from my actual dress-- you can get that and they will mail it to you.

A swatch of your actual dress- you need to prob wait til a fittin- most likely second.. They told me that they fit you on the first one- but they don't cut til after the second one.

hmm... i guess i will just get the general swatch for now, however useless it might end up being. then i'll get a piece of my dress after the second fitting. hopefully they'll be cutting off a lot

How exciting!!! I'd definitely go check the dress out, make sure everything is correct. The salon will usually tell you when your fittings should be but for my April 3rd wedding my first fitting is this Friday, 2/11 (7 weeks, 2 days in advance).
