Not only is it bad for you... but I don't see it being AT ALL necessary for a 14 year old to go tanning... and it's not even for an event. Just because!

I don't think anyone should tan at tanning salons because its so bad for your skin, but she def shouldn't be starting at 14!!

Its soooo bad for you. Even though I am guilty of going tanning for special events such as prom or my engagement party but I have never went just because. I thought they were trying to push a law not to allow anyone under 18 to tan...I guess it didn't go through or just not yet.

I think generations go through phases of smoking or not smoking and tanning or not tanning...just what it seems like.
I was just talking to my 11 year old niece and she was saying she wants a tan. And when I worked for makeup counter a lot of the girls coming in for prom makeup went tanning.

Wow. my little cousin is 14 and if she ever told me she was going tanning, i would beat her! lol that's not something you should do at 14, or at any age for that matter since its so horrible for your health!

I'm not saying I haven't gone tanning (though I don't go at all what you would consider a lot - like 1 or 2 twice to get a base tan before going away on vacay) but 14 years old is waaaaaaaaaaay too young for someone to be going tanning... it's completely unecessary

I used to be obsessed with tanning salons when I was younger.. didn't want to listen to the damages it can cause, I know better now... but I think 14 is definitely way too young!!

you should show your sister the melanoma article. That says that girls who start tanning before the age of 21 ups the risk of getting melanoma by ALOT. It's soooo scary what it can do to you. My uncle supposedly went tanning only 5x's in his early 20s and he died of melanoma at 39. It's a harsh way to put it but its the scary truth. I hope she ends up deciding against it.

oh she'll regret even starting- she will get addicted to it and then end up with wrinkles when she is older.
im so gratefull i never went tanning when i was younger- my skin is still healthy and young looking (not that im very old - but i avoid sun)
