Our party was sunday as a lot of you know and it was great..it was at Papa Joe's in Deer Park etc etc.. Come Thrs night.... I get a call from a friend saying that one of the entrees was bad meaning like old. The flounder was going bad and like 10 people got sick!!! The other people sent theirs back and the waiters actually said to them 'yeah we weren't sure if we were going to put it on the menu!!' How can they do that!!!!?? Also they kept going up to people and saying umm..so how does it taste???
I am really upset because two of my friends are pregnant and in the wedding party and thank god didn't order it but what if they did?? FH called and they were all like we are eating it now and its fine...yeah it's fine..its not the same batch of fish. All in all they are giving us a $100 gift certificate.. I am still mad though...

Oh no no- I would not accept that $100.00 and all those people got sick. Definately call the Dept of Health. and follow up with letters to the DOH and the restaurant. If they did this to you they may do it to other people. Where is this restaurant? I know on the nyc.gov dept of health website, it shows all the restaurants in the boroughs and their DOH rating. i dont know if they have it in Nassau and Suffolk. But before I go to a new restaurant I always check that out. ( i also did it for my RH too) But I would defiantely put up a big stink about this.!!!

OMG that is awful and I would tell them to take the gc and shove it up there a$$ what makes them think you will eat there again. I would ask for some of you money back that is crazy!!!!!!

We went to go back there and couldn't get a hold of anyone...I also went to called the board of health again but they don't work weekends...FH is like please please don't make a thing about this.. I think he feels very embarassed bc his parents paid and all.. the funny this is...his Dad doesn't know. If he did then he would flip out even more so. Ugh this is turning out to be this fight between me and FH. I hate this...

I would go to the board of health if I were you...10 people got sick...There are restuarants that will be inspected if one person got it, but to get 10 people sick and not want to admit fault...Also call a news station, get the word out there...I am sure they wouldnt want this plastered all over the news
Go back in there and demand something from them...$100 to go back and eat their food isnt going to cut it...
ITA. That had the potential of being EXTREMELY dangerous and harmful, especially to your pregnant friends. The baby could have been seriously harmed. I'd go to the board of health. I wouldn't walk there, I'd run!!! Well actually I'd probably drive, but you get my drift.

ITA, there was no way you could have known this was going to happen so there is nothing to be embarrassed about. But I also think you are doing the right thing by pushing this and not accepting just 100 gift card! Its not like they served bad food on accident either, they knowingly did this and that is unacceptable. You should get compensated more than a gift card for what they did to you.

I'd write a letter to the owner, and I'd go back and get money off the eparty. I don't expect, I DEMAND good customer service when I'm paying you for a service.
You're not overreacting... I'd go back. 100.00 is not worth what happened to my friends and family...

my mom called and spoke to the owner yesterday...she told her we knew about the incident at your party, and that she better ASSURE us that we will be given fresh food!! and that if there is even one small complaint from a guest, to expect to have alot more than a $100 GC to give us!!!!!!!! my mom said there will be more problems besides compensation if 'my little girls day gets ruined because you can't keep your word!'
she said that she assured the fish will be purchased fresh that morning, and we'll have nothng to worry about...so im keeping my fingers crossed...theres no going back on my party so i just have to hope for the best!

wow..good for you guys..I'm so glad you called too..I was waiting to hear what they said...like I said..I can't call the board of health until monday morning but I will let you know what they say...
