My E-Ring is broken!

I've only had my E-ring for 2 months, and it already broke! It's a solitaire in a 4-prong setting, and one of the prongs cracked. So now I can't wear it, because the diamond could slip out... so scary... and I HATE not having it on. Anyway, I was wondering, is this because it's white gold and not platinum? Poor FH went really overboard in picking the most gorgeous stone for the solitaire, and so it's in a really plain white gold setting (whatever - I LOVE it), and now he's feeling really guilty, like if he'd sprung for Platinum, this wouldn't have happened.

Is this going to happen all the time? Any of you experience this?

my stone has come loose 4x already ...and i keep having to go get it fixed...i dont think its because of the metals ...you might of just hit it on something and not realized...my problem is that my ring only has 4 prongs so its not very secure i guess ....he shouldnt feel bad though...it happens

He shouldn't feel bad. White gold is still a very strong metal. These things happen.

it happens, even to platinum, although it is more secure. try to take note at the times you hit in on stuff so when it is fixed it won't happen again. best wishes while it is at the 'doctor.'

aww dava I might shed a tear. Your tribute to your e-ring was so sad. I dont' think its because your FH got a white gold setting, plenty of people have white gold settings and have never have any problems with it. Maybe the jeweler can fix it so it won't happen again.

White gold is stronger than plat!!! Although my ring is plat, the stone is set in white gold! Don't feel bad!!! It could be worse!

Thye can rebuild it...make it stronger...better ..no seriously, they can rebuild your prong...its ok they'll fix it

well its just beautiful!!! and trust me.. when i got my ring.. 2 days later i was busy staring at it and realized that the diamond was CRACKED right down the center.. and one of the side stones was broke in half... FH was soooooo mad.. he bough it in cash so they gave him a bit of a brake.. so he went right down there and had a hissy fit and they fixed it right away no charge thank god. but im glad i noticed it..i was soo mad!!! youll get it back and it will be just fine!! no worries!!

OMG!! Actually You are soooo lucky in a way...if you look at the brighter side...You still have your diamond. I k now you must feel naked with out it haha..but you will have it back asap!

You are actually my new inspiration to have my ring insured... I know I know...Im crazy..but I have had my ring since August and We havent insured it yet. You have just inspired me to call someone right now actually!!!

Oh by the way...The jeweler told me that girls should get their ring checked at least once every other month for loose stones...I didnt know this!!

Dont worry they can fix that, but it must suck not to have it on. I still wear a ring guard since I cant part with my ring to get it resized.

AAHH! Can that HAPPEN?? I thought diamonds were supposed to be the hardest substance known to man! Did it scratch against another diamond somewhere? Great, something else I didn't even know I needed to worry about.

Thanks for all your well wishes for my ring, though, girls! I had no idea this problem was so common. Here you think, 'A diamond is forever...' and then you find out that you'd better check up on it 6 times a year so it doesn't disappear on you one day! The 'setter' is going to be at the jeweler's tomorrow, and I'm bringing it in. It should apparently take 15 mintues to fix.

Im sooo sorry to hear that..good thing the main thing is still there..that being the diamond.
I get so paranoid cause mine sometimes sounds loose..I've brought it to every jeweler known to man including the one my fh bought it from (his friends mom) and they all say its fine..I actually check the thing everytime im in the mall..its not a bad idea..just make sure the ring never leaves your sight!

My father was a diamond setter and trust me - white gold is stronger than platinum, so it's not breaking b/c you have a white gold ring. That's annoying that that happened! I'm always so afraid that that will happen to me!
