I NEVER wear my ring to work just because I work with children who are very active. I scartched a child before, and I dont want to scratch them again..
Someone yesturday said to me Marisa, Why arent you wearing your ring. So today I wear it to work. I am in work for 10 min. I open my draw and hit my hand on the draw and the head of my ring pops off. The diamond is attached to the prongs still. THANK GOD I found the diamond in the drawer.
So I call the jewler and she said she can fix it. Now I dont feel comfortable having it sodered. she said that it was on a peg and I broke the peg. But she can soder it with gold. So much gold that a truck could run over it and it not break.
I LOVE MY RING. but if it breaks once, what makes me think it wont brake again. I only have had this ring since april, and I dont even wear it to work. She was extremely pushy and insisted that I let her fix it right now. I sorry If this alittle confusing, but Im just alittle upset.
I know there are worse things that can happen. so please dont think that im being silly...
What would you girls do.

What had happened to me was this. I got engaged on vacation in the summer so the day I came back I went to Macy's in the city to get it appraised. The lady steamed it 4 me comes back and starts to look at it and says..'U know u have a diamond missing?' My heart dropped. Luckliy it wasn't the center stone and one of the stones on the side which my finger covers anyway. But anyway...I told her that can't be possible IT'S BRAND NEW!! Sure enough she checks the water where she cleaned it and there was the stone..I was soo relieved that she did it and found it then to just think that I did it and lost it but anyway they didn't fix it for me cuz they aren't responsible for damage(which I was pretty pissed). My FH brought it back to where he got it and they fixed it I believe sodered it and since then it's been fine thank god knock on wood. WORD TO THE WISE: NEVER GET UR RING CLEANED BY A JEWELER ALWAYS DO IT URSELF!!!

I agree! I am the biggest clutz and I never take my ring off. Nothing has ever happened. This doesn't sound right.

You never wear the ring ? And you bang you hand ONCE and it breaks ?? Your FH should take that ring back to the jewler and tell her to shove it you know where. - that should ABSOLUTELY NOT happen !!

That really shouldnt happen! I'd complain to her, but then get it fixed elsewhere. i wear my rng all the time. I've worn itto disneyworld twiuce, holding on for dear life in metal bars on rides, etc...I bang it ALL the time and it hasn';t budged, a drawer shouldn;t make it break!

I hope you are bringing it to another jeweler (or appraiser) and then def. go back to your jeweler and give them hell for make a shoddy setting!

I also have worn my ring every day the past year and a half and knocked the crap out of it and nothing like that happened. There are a lot of crooked jewelers out there.....so be careful. I would take the ring to another jeweler to have it looked at (I am sure you will find other issues with the other stones) and then have your DH tell these jewelers the issues and that he wants some type of money back ..then have a new jeweler fix it.

marisa - don't know if you remember me but i am trish's friend - i got engaged.
my ring was loose and (i'll post this in a new topic) but i had it fixed and wasn't crazy.
i saw go to another jeweler and another one after that till you know.
