my ering

Original post by Chanwich

I just got off the phone with the jeweler. We dropped my ering off finally to get sized, and it turns out that in order to size it they would have to really mess up the setting. its a tension setting and by sizing it they would be opening it up so the stone wouldn't fit in anymore and they would have to add metal to it to make it fit. It makes me nervous! The lady also said that there is a possibility of the stone cracking I just don't know what to do! I love my setting and don't want to change it, I just want the thing to fit on my finger without a ring guard Any suggestions?

i agree with the balls (LMAO!)

i have them in my ring, I also couldn't cut my ring

yes if the ring is in certain positions in photos you will see it, I thought about this too...but A- the photog can edit that or B just don't do shots where you can see it or C. Who cares! lol

if you do the balls, i suggest you sit with the jeweler the whole time
I also wouldn't feel comfortable sending my ring out, I watched the jeweler the entireeeee time he put the metal in my band, I sat right next to him lol

my erign has to be molded for my wedding band and it takes a few weeks! im not very excited about it

I persoanlly hate the balls!
I had them on my promise ring and I was always taking it off as soon as ugly in the house- they really really Hurt me and sometimes gave me blisters- especially in the summer-

But

My friend has those on her e-ring and had had no issues.

Also, have you tried speaking with mother jewler?
My family jeweler works miracles - FM me if you want any Info.

I only have 1 ball!

It's in the middle... I dont feel it at all except when I am gripping something tight then it digs in but it is great! no more ring spinning around!

Who is the ring designer? There are only like 3 that do tension settings and they should be able to re-size it if they are a legitimate retailer for it... this really stinks babe! Worst case though... Balls... Don't worry too much about the pictures, the photographer will know how to place the rings so that they do not show and they can air brush them out in the proofs

Re: my ering

Would ur jeweler be willing to trade the same setting in a smaller size for the one you already have and just switch the stone? In other words order a new setting but the same style take ur own stone and put it in the new ring and u give them the old setting

I just got the balls put in and I am glad i did! My ring finally fits perfectly and you can always have you jeweler adjust the size.

Whatever you do, don't cut your ring!! You can't ever revert to a larger size if you need to.

Also, be careful who you go to when you decide to resize your ring. FastFix in Roosevelt Field Mall wanted to charged me $180 because my setting is platinum... i just decided to go to my jeweler and got it done for free :)

Hmmm, Im not sure. FH didn't get the ring here, he got it before we moved across the country, and this new jeweler is a recommendation from a friend. They are really great and seem to know what they are doing. I'm not sure they even have this setting though I'll have to talk to FH and see where he got it.

I wanted to add..

I didn't want to cut my ring, especially for later in life. The nerves I had having a ring that moved so much was not worth it for me. I have never felt the balls once, not even when holding something or what not.

My jeweler did it for free as well.
