My Father and My StepSister Were Both Diagnosed With Cancer Today...

I'm not big on posting personal stuff, but I really need the prayers to start asap.

Back in March, right before Dawnie's wedding, my wonderful stepfather started feeling stomach pain. Instead of telling us, he just became very grouchy and started goign to bed at 7.30 every single night. Finally, the first week of June he decided to go to the doctor. On June 6th, the doctor called us and told us that they 'thought' they saw a mass on his pancreas. After a few more CT-Scans and Sonograms, they ruled out a tumor claiming that they were cysts and he had pancreatitis.

Im July, he was hospilitalized for 5 days for pancreatitis. They told us that there was only one more test they could do to see if there was a blockage, but because of the inflamation in his pancreas, tehy were afraid to start this exploratory procedure. On 09/02, Bob, my wonderful (step) father, had the procedure done.

He has pancreatic cancer. They give him two to three months to live if they don't do surgery and if it has already spread to any other organs, they can not remove the tumor in the pancreas and he will not survive longer than the original two to three months. If it is successful, he can live a few years longer.

I can not express the way Dawnie and I are feeling in any other way than numbness. We have cried all day long, and I can not picture life in two months when Bob might not be around. I am afraid my mother will not survive. SHe is so emotionally dependent on him that I think she will give up too.

My (step) sister (we kinda just like to drop that whole step thing because we are like the Brady Bunch)....

My stepsister had a molar pregnancy a few weeks ago, and teh doctors told her taht she may need chemo if her cell counts didn't decrease in teh rate they were supposed to. Instead of decreasing, they began to increase. Today, she went to the encologist to set up her first chemo session on Tuesday. While doing the routine pre-chemo screening, they found nodules on her lung and brain which is real cancer that rarely develops from teh Molar pregnancy, not just an increase cell count which she needed the chemo for. This is supposed to be what happens if you don't get teh chemo in a timely manner. They only removed teh tumor a month ago! SO now she is starting her chemo on Monday and she may not have any hair for her wedding which is in October. HOw much more can this poor girl take???
She is gettign married, lost her baby, lost her job in August becasue tehy eliminated her department, found out that she has cancer AND our father has cancer.

I ask all of you girls to please pray for Bob. Being a realist, I am bracing myself for the worst. Bob means teh world to Dawnie and I, he is a wonderful fatehr to the five of us and I keep finding myself asking why does God insist on taking the good ones first.

Please pray for Tara as well, I don't think she can handle much more. While they say there is a 90% succes rate with chemotherapy on this type of cancer, she still lost her baby and is losing her father as well.

OMG...I am so sorry to hear this news. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. Stay strong and hope for the best.

My FI's father found out he has lung cancer a few months ago. It doesn't look good for him either. We're getting married in 3 months...I just hope he gets to see his son get married.

I am sitting here crying with you Laurie. My heart is breaking for you and Dawnie. Your family does not deserve this. I am truly sorry that you all are going through this. I will pray for your whole family that your love for one another will give you all the strength to get through this.

Thank you all, I hope all of these prayers work. I guess that's all we can do at this point...

For Bob specifically, please prayer that the surgery is successful. We have 11 days until they do it and each day will be scarier and scarier for him. It's like they give you a sense of hope and yet they won't even know until they begin if he has a chance or not...
