My father :( need to vent....

So my father lives in Florida and we have never been close. My parents are divorced, but my mom still speaks to him often. My father knew
I wanted to get married but I dont think he thought I would go through with it. Hello I am 28 I am not getting any younger!! Anyway when the law passed for gay marriage I texted him his response 'back to reality, my offer still stands'. I was so hurt but to excited to care at the time!

My mom told my father that we booked a place and the date. His response 'I don't know if I will make it'! Really???? I am his daughter
And he doesn't want to go to his own daughters wedding. My mom said he will come around but I don't want him their if he is t going to support me :( ugh anything to ruin the big day. He ruined my sisters and I am not letting him ruin mine!!!

Sorry needed to vent.....

I am sorry that you have to go through this. I can understand you not wanting him there to ruin your special day, but I agree with your mom - you have plenty of time before your wedding so give him a chance and let him get used to the idea. See if he comes around in a little while and if not, then maybe consider not having him, but I wouldn't be so quick to close the door. Easier said then done, I know...

I know the feeling, my dad lives in Croatia and we're not close either since my mom passed. I asked him if he'll be there and his response was 'I live day by day, we'll see'
My brother said that's pretty much his set up for a 'no'.
You still have your mom and sister who will be there for you, don't stress too much about your dad....you'll have a wonderful day regardless

Don't let him get you down. If it makes you feel better I didn't even invite my dad. He's a jackass. We were close when I was a kid but as I got older he was just a deadbeat I felt he wasn't there for me the times I really needed him now the tables are turned. I don't talk to him at all I completely wrote him out of my life and I'm not losing a ounce of sleep over it. I think he's part of the reason I became so cold at times. Anyway my mom is walking me down the aisle and I'm super excited, I mean she pretty much played both roles so she earned her spot. At the end of the day you have to do what makes you happy. I wish you the best

Sorry to hear your Dad isn't being supportive. Hopefully he'll come around. Otherwise, you always have your mom and us LIW for support!!!
