my FH has such an opinion on dresses

I am having issues with the color, FH is adamant about white and i like ivory. he says ivory is not for weddings. im not sure if he is thinking that im wearing like a yellow dress by ivory im not sure what he is envisioning, not sure how else to convince him. i guess i can do white too.

My FH wouldn't know the difference between ivory and white. I bet if you get the ivory, he'll never even be able to tell.

Good point. I wasnt even able to tell the difference!! They had to bring me a white dress to compare it. i think im just not going to mention anything else about the color.

this is so great to hear that others are having the same issues with their FH's (not that I'm happy that FH's are being strange, just that I'm not alone )
my FH was sitting one night with me, demanding to see all my bridal magazines and to show me what dresses he hates and what he likes. all the dresses he was pointing that he hated were a bit similar to mine. he kept saying that he doesnt want it strapless (which mine is), he doesnt want 'puffy' (mine isnt puffy, an A line, but it has pick ups) and a bunch of other crap. he kept asking me to show him my dress cause he is getting anxious (he HATES surprises) - I didnt show him, but point at some random dress he loved in the magazine and said its my dress - made him shut up

I told him that under no circumstances is he to tell me that he hates the dress if that is the case. the only words he's alowed to use are 'gorgeous' 'u look like a model' 'ur so skinny' 'I'm gonna faint cause ur so beutiful'


Janise how are the dress shopping going? did u order that gorgeous maggie dress?

I have come to the conclusion that most men have no concept of what looks good on a woman and will often say they dont like something on the rack but when you buy it and wear it they say 'when did you get that its cute'
Dont listen to him! He will llove what you love because you will look and feel so great in it !

every now and again i show him a pic of a random dress to get thoughts and he is so critical (too plain, too boring, too much, looks like a bridesmaid dress, looks like a nightgown)....

im trying to prepare him for the fact that i WILL NOT be wearing a big princessy dress because i feel like ive been there-done that (l had to wear a wedding dress in 8th grade...catholic school...dont ask...lol)...and i had a poofy dress for prom, so im just over it.

but man o man...he has opinions....never expected this! lol

I do the same thing with my FH (and show him pictures of dresses I've tried on that I def WON'T be wearing)

he says the exact opposite of yours... because I want the big poofy tulle dress... he says because I'm 4'10 I'll look like an idiot wearing such a big poof and that I should wear something simple.. and that I'm NOT a princess, I'm NOT Royalty and that I don't need a cathedral length veil or train!

i wish i could say that about fh.
he picks out the best clothes and shoes for me.

what can i say. the man loves clothes.lol

lol FH was doing the same thing when i started looking in the bridal mags. he was very opinionated about what he likes. but whatever, i bought waht i liked and i know he's going to like it no matter what.

your FH will love whatever you wear that day janis, dont worry!!

FH told me he doesn't like 'topless' dresses.

I was like, do you mean strapless? Yes, he means strapless. I told him I will not be walking down the aisle topless, not to worry. hahaha.

FH said almost the same thing...he wants me in a 'topless' gown...but then he realized what he said and changed it to strapless!!

Ahh.. so it's not just my FH. I show him pics of dresses to get an idea and sometimes it's more then just a yes or a no.
Mainly, when we watch (when i force him to watch) wedding shows he says things like , 'ugh... that's a horrible dress! Nope.. you better not be wearing something like that.' Luckily they were dresses i wasn't a fan of either.

It's hard for me to not show him pics of the two dresses that i like so far because i tell him everything!

Tell your FH that your height doesn't matter! I'm 4'11' and wearing a ball gown.....big and poofy WITH a cathedral train!

My FH just told me he didn't want me to wear a mermaid dress! He may be picky now because he's JUST looking at the dress. Once he sees YOU in the dress, he'll be looking at YOU and you will look beautiful!

Mine once saw a mermaid or trumpet style dress...dont remember which one and was like 'ewww dont wear something like that!' (Not that I had planned on it...its not my style and would horrible my body type). Boys dont know anything about fashion

lol i showed him my dress. i was showing him like 20 pix of dresses, and i snuck mine in in the middle.. hes like OMG YEA! i lvoe that 1. it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO ahrd for me to keep a straight face. it hink he knew.. lol

Honestly, I kinda like this idea! Maybe if I narrow it down and sneak them in a stack of pics I can get some sneaky feedback!!!
