Hey ladies, So, fh and I have started talking about reception halls for the wedding. Since his parents are in the restaurant business and are foodies, he wants us to have tastings at all the halls we look into.
So, do you think that halls will allow us to have a tasting before we book since the food element will be one of the biggest parts of our wedding? heck, i dont even need a plate --just him.
Opinions please...

The only place that offered us a tasting without booking was CLM Every other place required a booking, but as a previous poster said, you could stipulate to a refund if you didn't like it. The Scotto brothers places didn't offer us a tasting but offered us a meal on them at their restaurants.

The Metropolitan has them every few months and they're really nice. Just call and ask when the next one is!
ETA - You have to make a reservation.
Also, Douglaston Manor happily provided a private tasting for us to help with our decision. Their food was great - we just fell in love with the Metropolitan which has amazing food!
Neither requires you to book first. We just happened to have booked the Metropolitan before the tasting because we knew how good the food was already.

You should check with the RH. Some do tastings before you book and others don't. At my RH they do it a few weeks before your wedding, but they have a restaurant that you can go to anytime as well to try out the food.

If a RH won't let you do a tasting unless you give them money, get up and walk out...no one should be surprised on their wedding day to find out the food *****. And on another note.... I would make sure when you do the tasting....its while a party is going on. I went to a RH tasting and the food was great but there was no party going on they cooked just for us...I was thinking about booking but after I went to an affair there a few weeks later and tasted the food for the masses it was a completely different story.
