yep. i was out of control. we just sat for 2 hours and made a budget out. we cut up allllllllll my credit cards. it was a very difficult task haha

wow - good for you, although i know it's going to be tough.
FH actually mentioned that after the wedding we're going to repair our credit - mine isn't bad, just some student loans and some CC debt - but HE is finishing med school, has YEARS of loans and living expenses so before we start saving for a house I'm going to pay off all my stuff so we only have his (which is like a mortgage anyway).

i've always learned if i want to spend $150 on something and i don't physically have $150 in my checking account that means I can't afford it!!! I can understand how people get caught up in spending, but it's just common sense, haha. there was a hilarious SNL skit about this a couple of years ago!

Yeaah i did this a few months ago.. but not before putting myself 20g's in debt... I finally took out a loan to consolidate everything and cancelled all my my cards.. But OUCH does that debt hurt.

lol...we didn't go as far as cutting mine up in case I ever needed them again. But I haven't seen my credit cards in over a year because they've been locked up in a safe.

It scrazy how it creeps up on you and then one your like where this come from....to much spending for me, now I walk around in rags, hahahaha no mor enice clothes or shoes for a while

I think that is awesome kudos to you! it is a hard step but it helps! We ended up paying my cards first and now we store them away in a safe and we don't carry them on us anymore! Lord knows we will probably need them closer to the wedding!!!

FH made me do this a year ago...I had over 6k I debt that he took over under his name so now i don have any credit cards...if i dont have the cash i dont buy it and i feel so much better about it!
