i am in the same boat. i was watching a perfect wedding on tlc the other day and thought that what they were saying was really sweet but how they were saying it came across as insincere and although they were crying, i just wasn't feeling it. anyway, i don't want to sound like that. i want our vows to be said with meaning but at the same time, i am nervous around everyone. so our officiants had suggested that we write a letter to one another and the letters would be read during the ceremony as our vows. we are giving that some thought.

I am extremely afraid of speaking in public - we did pretty traditional vows, not very long = but I loved the fact that we just looked at each other and said them, we didn't repeat after the priest at all. It was so easy. I just said them over and over again for about a week - it's all stuff you believe in your heart and it comes so naturally!
I would love for us to do letters as our vows, but FI is against it. I think I might intimidate him, being that I'm a poet, but the letters he writes are so sweet I know he would do wonderfully. Still considering trying to change his mind... hehe! :o)
