Don't worry, they did not split...it's strictly financial. I'd rather not say which hall, but I will tell you it's in Nassau County. The wedding is not until the end of 09, but they have already made a few payments....anyone know the laws? TIA

Re: My firend is cancelling her wedding..
I believe in Nassau, you get your money back if someone books the date. Suffolk county, you get your money back if canceled 6 months prior.

In nassau, you wont get any money back... im like 95% positive of that ... on my contract it states, no deposits will be refunds and each payment that is made is labeled as a 'deposit' at least on my contract... im at the swan club

But, for example, what if someone signs the contract, and then a month later, wants to cancel? Are they still responsible to make payments until the date is re booked?

Re: My firend is cancelling her wedding..
most places in nassau (mine does this) will give you your deposits back ONLY if someone else books your date. If no one books your date you dont get the money back. Have your friend ask her BM for their policy... And no, you do not have to continue paying deposits once you tell them you want to cancel.
