My BMs picked my shower date and told me because I wanted to know. I really don't see anything wrong with it because I wanted to know. I mean I know I'm getting a shower so what's the problem. I travel for work and work a parttime job that requires me to work on weekends so I kind of need to tell them I need off! Not to mention I have 3 BMs from OOT that would need to stay with me! So FMIL tells everyone 'Oh Michelle's shower is this date, it's not a surprise.' She says it with this tone. It gets me so annoyed. I keep telling her I needed to know the date and that was it. I don't know anything else about it. FH even knows he has to blindfold me and bring me to the place. I really don't understand the problem.

Thats annoying! Some people refuse to believe that traditions evolve over time and its not uncommon for girls to know about their showers. I picked the date and place for mine cuz i also travel and have a weird work schedule. Theres nothing wrong with that, she should just be happy for you and hopefully she'll get over it soon!

Sorry sshe's acting that way...sometiems it's hard for MOB's or FMIL's to understand not everything has to be done like it was in their time. Just ignore it...she'll get over it.

my shower is on Sunday, I to had to know because of work, but I do not know any of the details. so I do know how you feel, I had a similar situation. they will get over it,

SOrry you're dealing with this! I think alot of people have a certain idea of how things are supposed to be and are kind of thrown for a loop when it doesn't go along with their 'vision'

My FSIL said that New York is one of the only places where showers are still a 'surprise' she lived in Pittsburgh for a while and she said the bride always knew about the shower.
I really don't see the problem, all you know is the date. You don't know where. So it's still a surprise!

I told my MOH I don't want to know anything else about it. I just needed to know the date that was picked. I mean, I left it up to them! I just told them dates I would be around, but for my second job now I know to request off for that day and the day after!

Exactly, they need to figure everything else on their own. I'll just know what day it is and that's it. But whatever, people will always say something.

I know! My mom had a real problem at first with FH & I doing the pictures before the ceremony. But I told her to get over it b/c we don't want to miss the cocktail hour! She's fine with it now, but there was a lot of hemmin and hawing about it.
