My first massage!

FH made appointments for us to get massages tomorrow! I am so excited, but I also feel kinda nervous! Neither of us have ever had one before.

I have some questions. How naked do you have to get? Do you tip? (and how much about?) I would assume that you do. There was a woman available and a man available for our appointment time, and I am so self conscious I just feel more comfy with a woman, but it would be really weird for FH to have the man, right? LOL

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE getting amassage. It is so relaxing. One of my favorite things to do. Don't be nervous....its totally fine!

I guess it depends on what type of massage you're getting. If it's a regular massage, you can leave underwear on. ( I left my thong on when I went~sorry TMI ) However, there are also massages where they scrub you with an exfoliant and you have to jump in the shower to wash off before the rest of the massage. That one you need to be completely naked for. I believe the tip is how you feel the massage went. You give it to the people at the front desk and they hand it over to the therapists (that's what I did).

I don't know if I'd be uncomfortable with a man...depending on the way he looked...just kidding. But I think I'd rather have a woman massage me as well. My Dh wouldn't be comfortable with a man massaging him either. Maybe they can switch something around for you.

I've gotten many massages and so has FH, but there were all in a medical treatment setting. I've had both male and female MT's, honestly it's all the same to me, but since it's only for my back, I only tke off everything on top and put on a gown. I don't mind either way. FH has had men and women, I don't see why a guy would be uncomfy w/another guy, etc. It's not sexual, it's just a massage.

Don't be nervous. Just rememebr they do this for a living, and they're not looking at your body, they're doing their job. Even if it's at a spa, not a docotr's office like mine are, they're just there to treat you, you're like a patient. if you think of it that way, you won't be embarassed.

I'm a Massage Therapist, so happy to hear your getting your first massage!
1. Wear what you feel comfortable wearing- usually people just keep their underwear on. You are under a blanket/sheet or large towel the entire time, only the part that is being worked on is exposed, so you should never feel uncomfortable.
2. Let the therapist know how the pressure is during the massage- ie: too deep/too light- Tell them! (We're not mind readers- just muscle readers ). If it is too hot or too cold in the room, tell them as well.
If there are any areas you want worked on more specifically, tell the therapist at the beginning of the massage (if you've been having neck pain for ex., tell them you'd like them to focus more on that area.)
3. Tipping is at your discretion, but if you enjoyed your massage, 20% is the norm.
