First, I would like to thank Kristin for selecting me to be BOTW.

I hope my questions live up to BOTW standards...so without further ado.....

**WHAT CAUSED YOU TO JOIN LIW? IF YOU WERE A LURKER FIRST, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE BEFORE YOU POSTED? WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST POST (if you remember?)**

As for myself, I first came across LIW when doing searches for reviews of catering halls. I read the review posts that came up on Google, and never thought much more about it. At that point, I didnt even realize that there was a whole LIW community with wedding years (2010'ers, etc). After a few more searches, I realized that this community existed.

I would say I lurked on-and-off for a few weeks. Everyone sounded friendly and like they all knew each other previously.

When searching with FH for catering halls and finally deciding on one in LI (at that point we were almost 100% sure we were going to book at CLM), we were *DESPERATE* to find a catholic church in LI that would marry us! (logistically, we could not get married in brooklyn and drive to LI). I called a bunch of churches throughout Nassau with no luck. ....Sooooo...with that said...I first posted on LIW!

I dont remember exactly what I wrote, but I know i asked if anyone knew who would take non-parishioners to get married. And, by the end of the day, i got really helpful responses!! One of which was St Rose of Lima -- where we are getting married

Everyone was super helpful and friendly and informative....and from then, I was hooked!


I am looking forward to seeing everyone's responses and learning about you girls (and guys)!!

I was looking for a photographer for a friend and i joined and then when i got engaged it became my go to place.

My first post i have no idea i don't remember but i have gotten so many great useful tips and ideas on here i don't know how people don't use this site. It's better than a wedding planner

i also came across LIW while doing searches for reception halls.

I joined in september 08 but i dont think i started posting for a few mths....maybe like end of Nov or early Dec.

I was doing a search of RH and this site came up. I thought it was interesting...So, the 1st question I asked is if anyone knew the max. capacity of one of the room's at Leonard's cause we had booked one room but as the guest list grew we had to move to another room.

This is funny because if you ask FH, he'll tell you I didn't even have the ring on for an hour before I started researching

But it's not true.......it was like a day I think it was the day after we got engaged I started researching halls and venues. I put in 'Long Island Wedding Locations' and LIW was the first hit (I think). I lurked for about a month and then finally joined.

I *think* my first post was an introduction after I booked NRC, but I'm not positive.

i first found LIW back in 2006, when i was searching stuff for my cousins wedding. i totally lurked for a while & loved seeing all the pictures. after a couple of weeks of lurking, i honestly became board with reading all the wedding stuff & i wasn't even engaged at the time. i figured when it was my turn i would join.

2 years later: when i got engaged in 2008, the same week i was so excited to set up an account & start posting.

i am sure my first post was an introduction & our engagement story.

I was a lurker for over a month, then for the next few moth I posted here and there but not to much b/c I felt like I knew nothing now full addiction.

I would goggle 'something reviews' and it kept taking me to this site - like 'hamlet willow creek reviews' - after reading the reviews I decided to join - I think my first post was on and old post about Lombardi's on the sound vs. willow creek. . . I had no clue what I was doing

I got introduced to LIW because my sister had been a member when she got married in 2007.
I was a lurker over a year ago for a few weeks on the 2009 board before I was engaged (lol!). Then I never went on again until I was engaged.
ETA: My first post was just introducting myself. We had our church and RH booked already and I let everyone know that!

I never lurked lol. StefandKen joined and then once i got engaged I joined!

I know i posted a lot on BHB before here. I think my first post was about RH's. I had SUCH a hard time finding one and posted about 50 halls that I was NOT going to look at and needed suggestions on where to look.

I think I was searching for reception halls in a google and this site came up. It took me a while before I discovered the chat section because I was so into searching for RH's. Once I discovered the chat section and that one of my classmates at the time was on LIW, I decided to join. I was apprehensive at first because I never saw myself joining a site but I must say that I am glad that I did join.

Forgot to add that once I noticed that chat section I think I joined like a month later and my first post was me introducing myself to the 2010'ers!!!

Great First Question!!!

I was looking for a DJ (I still am!) and I wanted to see if there was any information on this one guy that we met with.

After some google-ing, I came across a thread from this site and it involved him and a few other DJs, but it was old. I joined up and posted a new thread about him and I have gotten some very useful information since then. I still may book him, but I'm taking my time.

I searched over LIW a bit more and realized that you girls were this cute little community of brides with the same questions as me and TONS of information and experience!

Actually, I believe that LIW and you girls are what has been making me more and more excited about my wedding!!! <3 You Guys!!!

Same here, one of my friends got married at Jericho Terrace and i started googling reviews for that RH and Liwedding came up, I lurked for a few days and then i signed up :) Im so happy i did b/c everyone here is so helpful

I came across LIW on a google search and was just playing around on here. I didn't officially introduce myself I kinda just started asking questions and just caught on. I am soooo glad I found this site though, as we have all said it is really a blessing to have all this info at our fingertips and friendships to take with us even after we say our 'I Do's'

came across liw when i was look at RH's BEFORE i was engaged lol i was the type of girl you had her entire wedding planned out before she was engaged lolollll (but I had to start over WITH a budget this time hahhaaaa) i was prob a lurker for like 4-5 months

i pretty much joined cuz it looked like fun! plus you can comment or ask questions otherwise
