Re: My first RSVP that has decided they will bring a guest not invited!!!!!!!
i dont know honestly if FH got invited to a wedding we would both be under the assumption that i would go as well and if only HE was invited then he prob. wouldnt go because hes engaged and he would feel like i should be there with him.
This is a hard one If you cant afford to have people come with their husband, wives, fiances, i prob. wouldnt invite them in order to avoid uncomfortable situations like these. But since you already did and that doesnt help why dont you try explaining to all of your co-workers and his that you guys are just having a co-worker table out of respect for the people you both work with and they should get the idea.

Re: My first RSVP that has decided they will bring a guest not invited!!!!!!!
I am inviting everyone who is old enough to have one with a guest, just because i was invited to a wedding without my fh (after we were already engaged) and it made me upset (not mad) but upset becuase it felt like he was not being recognized as my fiance....i am hoping that most people who do not have a significant other will not decide to bring someone. I know that my single friends will not bring anyone, even though they will be invited with a date.
ETA: I guess it is not enough to address the invite without the 'and guest' part if your not inviting with a date? what else are you supposed to do, without writing on the invite 'no guest'

this is a difficult situation, not everyone knows about wedding etiquette I guess some people just assume they are invited with a guest.I know it is easier to just let it be but make sure your other friends won't be hurt or offended. It is an uncomfortable situation to approach him but I would rather be uncomfortable with him than to have problems with people closer to me.I would definitely say something unless he was my supervisor or boss. JMO I'm not looking foward to dealing with this.. Good Luck

thanks for the advice! Only problem is FH feels awkward in approaching the guy! I think we may let it slide but I am not happy about it at alllllll.
The guy also apparently seemed very excited about being invited to the wedding, so I feel kind of bad. I just feel bad because we did not invite guests with anyone really, other than married couples or engaged couples. So I have close friends who are coming without guests and now this co-worker will be bringing one!
I do not understand it.
DO NOT LET IT SLIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other co-workers will try too. Give me the guys number, I will tell him.

I solved that problem by inviting everyone with a date
sorry that happened...if you FH wont speak up, you have no choice but to accept it. But then other co workers may get pissy that this guy brought someone and they didn't....bottom line, I think you fh needs to say something...
us too.
If you're over 18, you are invited with a guest to our wedding...so we selected who we would be able to (afford to!) invite based on that amount of people....

Re: My first RSVP that has decided they will bring a guest not invited!!!!!!!
I was invited to a wedding where i couldn't bring a guest. But at the time of sending back the RSVP, i didn't know this was the case. So i added my boyfriend's (now my fiance) name to it. The bride wrote me a nice email saying that because it's a big wedding, they can't afford to invite both of us. But the thing is that she invited two other couples (one married and one engaged) from our mutual group of friends. she also let me know that the reason why my boyfriend is not invited is because we're not engaged or married. i was a little stunned that she'd invite me alone with two other couples. i ended up not going to the wedding. but i agree that you should stick to the rule you decided with and have it apply to everyone you invite. good luck!
