am i crazy or is this highly innapropriate? they live are far away and it wasonly the first of the showers it was w his fam side not mine.... and that they maybe thought she wouldnt come....but my moh and mom made plans to go and never received invites.....tacky? weird? anyone??? i didnt know anyone there it was 8 hours from my home!!??

My Mom threw a shower for my SIL up here in NY when they are from southern Maryland. BUT She of course invited her mother and sister.
I dont get it.....very rude.

Before getting crazy on this, do you have the relationship with your fmil that you could talk to her and ask why your mother wasn't invited? Maybe Easter weekend was the only time she was able to get her family and friends together to have your shower and just assumed that your mother would be busy that weekend celebrating Easter with your family. Sometimes, good intentions just turn out bad because of poor planning or bad assumptions.
But, if you have a bad relationship with your fmil and you think this was done intentionally, then that's a different story. Only you can see how or why it was done this way.

I hope this wasn't an intentional slight. Can you talk to FMIL or FH to see what happened? Maybe she just made some erroneous assumptions without meaning any harm. Try to work this out sooner rather than later, so that it doesn't fester and sour your relationship.

FMIL should have invited your mom. That's just wrong. They're going to be family soon so why wouldn't she include your mom.

That is awful! I gave my DIL a shower here in NY and her mom lives in NM and I wasn't sure if she would be able to make the trip or not but I never, not once thought not to send her an invite. As it turned out she came along with her sister from SC and everything was wonderful...we had a fabulous time together and became family. Have you mentioned this to your FMIL? Maybe she is clueless to proper ettiqute or just doesn't think your mom will attend. Try to make her aware that this is not the way to start a new extended family.

Did see mention the shower to your mom or MOH beforehand? Maybe she just ASSUMED they would could even without an invite?

That is CRAZY!!!! Your mother should have been the first person to receive an invite! Even is she 'couldn't make it' maybe she'd want to save it as a momento or something.....FMIL is DEF out of line with this one.
