My very good friend from college had a premmie, (9 weeks early) she was having contractions and they tried to stop them, and then she started to hemorrage, and they found out the baby's placenta separated and they had to do a emergency c - section, the baby is 3 pounds 11 oz. I feel so bad for her, she knows I am there for her, but what else can I do for her, she has 2 other kids, which I offered to babysit and I am thinking of bringing over some meals becuase she is going to be running back and forth to the hospital, any other suggestions or is there anything else I can do for her and her husband?

Offer to be there to listen, talk or just be there. I think babysitting and making dinners area great idea. You can also help around the house if you want too!

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I was a premmie and my mom told me the horror stories she went through. You are an awesome friend to help her in her time of need!

I agree, just be there for her
Just wanted to let you know, my cousin was a preemie and now she is 5'9 and a bubbly college student! We were so worried about her when she was born but now we call her Beanpole.
And that was 19 yrs ago.....look what they can do now!!

Re: My friend had a premmie.....
I had a border-line premmie - and she had to stay in the hospital once I went home - and the going back and forth to the hospital was SO HARD - and I can't even imagine having two other children - Cooking some trays of food would be so helpful - we had no time to even think of food shopping or cooking - we had to go to the hospital for 1 hour every 3 hours - by the time we got home it was almost time to leave again. I would offer to watch the kids, send over some meals, and maybe even offer to go food shopping for her. A clean house if always nice too. I will say a prayer for your friend. Believe it or not the baby's at a good weight and will be home before you know it. Keep up posted.

Re: My friend had a premmie.....
to your friend. i will say that bringing meals and helping with the kids is a great offer and one that will really help. even throwing in a load of laundry for her, or running the vacumn would probably be really helpful. Also, just remember that small babies can still thrive with all of the medical help today. so I am sure her little one will be home soon.
