My friend is a marine and his mom is so awesome
My mom just called me to tell me their is an article in our local newspaper about a kid I grew up with who is a marine.
He was stationed in Kuwait and wrote his mom a letter that he needed socks, toothpaste, and some essentials. He also went on about the guys in his unit and times are really hard.
So his mom then started a huge campaign to ship things to her son and his unit. She went to her youngest child's elementary school and has all the kids in the school writing letters to the men in the unit, she went to local merchants to have them donate goods, she got magazines that she personally went through, went to huge corporations like gillet and had them donate razors and shaving cream for the men, etc...
She shipped over 900 boxes to her son and his unit.
He is now back in the US and is in North Carolina. She surprised him and his whole unit treated her like she was their own mom.
She is really a remarkable woman.
