My friend from D.C. had her shower yesterday. I found out that she may be on Platinum Weddings.
They contacted her, but she is not 100% sure she wants to do it, and if she does, there is no guarantee they will use it.
She is having a black-tie reception at the Willard (next to the White House). All guests are invited to the rehearsal dinner the night before and brunch the next day. She is having a custom-made gown as well.
I'm just like 'wow'. Now I can only imagine how much she is really spending on this event.

That's so cool! Let us know if she is going to be aired. I'd love to see it! I have been to a DC wedding and let me tell you- they are Platinum Wedding worthy!

She said she had no idea how much is staged.
Like, they've already met with their baker and decided on cake fillings. And they need to recreate the whole thing for the camera. the same with their florist for the centerpieces. Alot of this stuff was decided months ago, but they come like 5 days before the wedding and you have to recreate and act all surprised.
She said she doesn't get any money from it. What happens is - vendors will give you more for free since the show is like an advertisement for them. So, she is getting a more expensive centerpiece for the same price. But the show will show it at the price it should be, not the price she is paying for it.
$350,000??????? Holy cow. There are only going to be 100ppl at this wedding!!!

They contacted her wedding planner. Jeez - I can't even afford one of those!!!
$400,000?!?!?!?! for 100 people???? That's INSANE!!!!
But I think at least $50,000 of that is for her dress and jewelry alone!

I'd rather do TLC's 'A Wedding Story'. I love that show. It's about the couple and how they love eachother, while planning the wedding. It's not all about the vendors, glitz, and glamour.
