My FW is going to David's Bridal this Friday - any advice for her?

Original post by DjPiLL

She actually told me yesterday she is going to David's Bridal on Friday... FINALLY.

Anyways... I have heard mixed reviews on this place from people here. Does anyone have any tips I should pass along to her? Anyone she should definitely speak to? Avoid?

Thanks in advance.

Well, i am not a big David Bridal fan and I am not trying to offend anyone on LIW who went there. I really think you can get a better quality dress elsewhere. If it is the Price that is the issue, his prices are not that great anyway. There is a New Designer Named Davinci he makes dresses similar to David at a better price and quality. And U can find these dresses at any bridal salon. I would recommend not to go to DAVID

Bridal Salons hold a dress order until they have 5 dresses from a manufactuer... that's why they can sometimes take that long.....

I got my dress from Davids Bridal... and I have mixed reviews at this point. the customer service is not so hot... DEFINATELY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! I went about 6-7 times for my dress... and only 2 times a had an appointment. BUT I am a pushy, loud person, so it was OK... I just GRABBED the dress I wanted, and took it into the dressing room... of couse 3 ppl came over to see who was helping me, and I was like, 'WELL, noone came to help me so we helped ourselves'. The times I had an appointment, it was fine. Alicia was very nice and accomidating, and NO pressure- I walked aroudn with my sister and mom, and picked out dresses, she carried them to the dressing room, and I tried them on! That's it!
MY dress went on sale last month, I didn't want to spend thousands, like some do on a dress you will only wear a few hours! I think that is crazy. So when people say you can get better 'quality'... WHO CARES, you are wearing it for ONE DAY!!! They do have TONS of styles (and tend to 'knock-off' designers dresses... which is awesome!) JUST stay on top of them once it's ordered...

One of my Bm's (who is getting married this Feb) got her dress there also. SHE had problems... with them NOT calling her when her dress came in back in July- SHE just happend to call them to 'see' if it was in yet, and they were like, Oh, it's been here for 1 month!... SO I AM calling every week for mine!

Alterations I am goign to do elsewhere, somewhere that has more customer service, and I have heard good things about.

But for just ORDERING a dress, and at a good price, tell your FW, if she sees someting she likes at DB's she should see if it's on sale (which they have sales every other week!) and go for it- once the dress comes in, she'll never have to go back!

Sorry so long... but felt that 'HORROR' stories have been spread about DB, most from ppl who have NEVER been there... so when you're on a budget, it's the place to go!

GOOD LUCK!

If she is going to the one in Carle Place, ask to work with Maria Elena, she was such a sweetheart.

Guess What, she no longer works there!
I liked her too, and I went back ( reluctantly) to order my dress...nope shes not there!

I had Raquel and she was very nice! The reception girls..well I have some choice 4 letter words to use in my description of them..I asked for a manager on my last visit, the manager was GREAT...

Davids takes 8-10 weeks...but I second the Davinci styles , I loved them and they ship in 2-3 weeks...at almost all bridal shops!!

I think with DB, it's the whole 'you get what you pay for' deal. I got my dress there,,, i ordered it back in march, they told me 6-8 weeks, and i just picked it up LAST WEEK. It didn't stress me out too much, b/c im getting married in Feb, but it was one of the most frustrating experiences i ever had. Every time i called, they'd put me on hold for over 10 minutes and everyone i spoke to would tell me to call back another time. It turns out that my dress had been sitting in the back for over a month so it wasn't even in their system anymore. For that reason, i wouldnt reccommend them, BUT for the price, and the selection, it WAS worth it. i had gone to a few boutiques, and they were so overpriced, and didnt have anything that i liked enough to pay that price for.

anyway, i guess the point with DB is that its not bad, but you really have to STALK them, and be pushy, or else they'll keep pushing you to the side.

Also, i was going to get my BM dresses there, but decided it was TOO much to have to worry about the same situation with SEVEN (7) dresses. just know what you're getting into, and choose your battles... in hindsight,, it was worth it for the price... but at the time, it was more stress than i had bargained for. OK.. sorry this is so long... it's my first post hehe

Same here! I did get my BM dresses there.
