My salon basically said call back in 4 months for a fitting - which is fine by me, but I did want to go down there and make sure the right dress is there. Plus, it was a hollow to hem measure, and I want to be sure the hem is right. The woman I spoke to made me feel a little Bridezilla-ish...'oh, you have PLENTY of time...we checked everyting in for you...don't worry, it's right, yada,yada,yada...'
Is this 'protocol'? They told me 8-10 months, yet the dress came in 6 - is it silly to want peace of mind to be sure? She made me feel so silly for even suggesting I look at it before April.
Any feedback would help...thanks!!
UPDATE: So I called them back and insited on visiting the gown, and although I got some 'huffing', they did have it for me tonight.
Ladies...she is beautiful. There she was...all clean, and the beads glimmering, hemmed to my short 5'0 frame.
Anyway, the woman there tonight said to call back and come down with my shoes to be sure the hem is right since it is a 'pre-measured length.' She gave me her name and said she would help me. She was really nice.
Thanks for the support!

Re: My Gown is In, but...
I have heard this all the time, for almost everything during my planning process. I plan FAR in advance. It's not like you paid them $10 for a product and are torturing them. Go see it if you want to! It is normal for the dress to come in early.

Re: My Gown is In, but...
You can go see it, it is not a FITTING, just trying it on! Just show up and tell them you heard your dress is in and you want to try it on... what are they gonna say NO, you paid for it!

Re: My Gown is In, but...
since you have a hollow hem, I would go there (without calling) and tell them you want to try on your dress. God forbid the length is not right! I wouldn't ask them, I would just go there. it's YOUR dress

Re: My Gown is In, but...
don't let their laziness deter you or make you feel like a bridezilla...give me a break- you're dropping a nice chunk of change in their lap. the LEAST they could do is be accommodating.
Go, see it, and set your mind at ease.

Re: My Gown is In, but...
Go see your dress! I've heard horror stories about the wrong dress ordered or measurements completely off.
Better to be safe than sorry!

Re: My Gown is In, but...
My dress came in 5 months when I was told 8-9. I made an appointment to go try it on and I took pics. They told me when to call to schedule my first fitting.
Definitely go and see it!

Re: My Gown is In, but...
Def go see for yourself, you need peace of mind!! I don't care that they checked it out, that's great, but it's YOUR dress that YOU paid good money for. Of course you deserve a chance to check it out after it's finally arrived!!
Congratulations on getting the call tho!!

Re: My Gown is In, but...
Sorry to intrude on your board, but as a past bride let me pass on this one important piece of advice. When it comes to dealing with vendors don't worry about feeling like a 'bridezilla'. It's your money, its your wedding - you have to be happy. And it is certainly not a crazy idea that a hollow to hem dress might have been ordered in the wrong length. It has happened to a few LIW brides in the past!
When I was planning my wedding I felt the same way - I didn't want to be pushy, I tried to be laid back and there were one or two occasions where in the end I wasn't happy with what I got because I didn't assert myself enough and I allowed a vendor to make a decision for me that I HATED. The irony is I generally have a big mouth and I'm not afraid to ask for what I want, but when it came to wedding planning I just didn't want to be 'one of those.' In retrospect, I should have cared less what vendors thought of me and made myself happy instead.
GO TRY ON YOUR GOWN!!
Good luck!

Re: My Gown is In, but...
Dont let them bully you. I would call back and say that you simply want to swing by and look at the dress and be sure its all ok. Hey if they didnt wanan deal w/ the hassle they shouldnt have told you it was in
