My grandma broke her hip last night -- Updated with brief shower review and grandma's condition

They are doing the surgery today to fix it, but she's going to miss my shower tomorrow, and will most likely not be at the wedding since it's four weeks from today.

I've had the worst few weeks. Work has been absolutely crazy, so I'm totally stressed out here. I had to put my dog to sleep 3 weeks ago, and now this. I can't even think about all the little things I need to finish up, but I know I have to. It's just so hard to focus on anything.

Sorry, I just really needed to say it outl oud. I don't want to complain to my family, they have enough on their mind.

Awe, I'm so sorry to hear this. My grandmother broke her hip a few years ago and just recently had to have her hip replaced. It's tough because they can't recover the way we can, ya know? Your grandmother will be absolutely fine and who knows maybe she can leave rehab for a little while to attend your wedding (with a nurse maybe?) if she isn't I'm sure she is just as upset (if not more) and will be with you on your day in heart!

I'm missed the part about your dog. I'm so sorry to hear that. That is one of the most difficult things to do.

Best wishes to your grandmother! Maybe you can do something to acknowledge (sp) her at your wedding.

I am very sorry you are going thru this - Is there anyway they could put your grandmother is a wheelchair and bring her with a nurse? My FH was best man in a wedding where the grooms grandmother was in the hospital and the whole wedding party stopped by and took some photos with her

I am truly so sorry about what you are going through! Thats horrible about your dog. I couldnt even imagine it, ( my cat is 14). tHE GOOD NEWS ISyour grandma is OK, she is alive. Maybe she will be able to attend your ceremony, to watch you get married, just may have a hard time getting around. Ill keep her in my prayers in hopes that she'll recover quicky.Hang in there!

Thank you all so much. These are some really great ideas. I'll have to see what I can do that day. I'm still in shock I think. We were just talking two days ago about her corsage. She was so excited.

My grandmother broke her hip 2 weeks before my sisters wedding and we were all so upset at he thought of her not being there with us. he was 82 at the time and we never thought she would recovery enough to be at the wedding. Well, to our urprise, 2 days after her surgery she was at rehab and they had her up and walking with help of course buushe was doing it. The day of the wedding we got special permission to take her out for a few hours. We sent my aunt over with her dress and had a person come do her hair and makeup. She was at the church and the cockail hour with us. She came in a wheelchair but she was there. We had a car service pick her up and she went back to the rehab facility. Think happy thoughts and this same thing could appen with your grandma.

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother and hope her recovery goes well. I am a RN and have taken care of many Orthopedic patients with fractured hips. Don't count her out for the wedding yet. You would be surprised how quickly they progress with physical therapy. She may be in a wheelchair, but I'd be surprised if she was unable to make it.

Thank you all so much for your kinds words. I can't tell you how much better I feel now. It's nice to have somewhere to turn for a kind word and some hope when you really feel down.
