My Grandma passed away today
As some of you, she had been sick for quite some time. She suffered her last sixth months. Although you think you are prepared, you're not. You don't want to let go but you know you have to. I know she is in a better place.
She has had such a tough life, losing her beloved son when he was just a young boy and then later losing her husband. She moved in with my mother after he passed and has been living with us even before I was born. So we were close knit family.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in February. Had a masectomy at 84 and after surgery, literally lost her mind. She had dementia which we did not know she had. We thought the mood swings and forgetfullness were just 'old age'. She had been in a nursing home because she was put on a respirator. So she was not able to be home with us.
She was just a great woman as all of you are. Some of you have been so sweet to send me fm's to check up on me. I will never forget that!
Just make sure you always tell your family and friends that you love them. Whether it is just a tap on the hand, a quick love you on the phone or a kiss on the forehead. I was never able to tell her that after the surgery because she did not know who I was.
Also, when you do get older. MAKE A LIVING WILL. I know you may think we are too young but my mom had to make some tough decisions because my grandmother did not have one.
Anyway, thank you again ladies (and some gentlemen out there) for listening to me.
