I just left my aunt's bday party and we had such a great time and everyone was sooo excited and all they were talking about was the wedding..FH and I left and my phone rang and it was my Mom & she told me that my great uncle (who was the sweetest man) just passed away about 1/2 hr ago ...He lived a long life (he was 88) but it's so sad and the craziest thing is that our wedding was originally going be tonight but we had decided on next weekend instead..that would've been absolutely horrible if this had happened on our wedding day...Your prayers are greatly appreciated at this time...Thank you so much....

I'm so sorry My great uncle just passed away too so I know how it feels. All my grandparents died years ago and my great uncle was like a grandfather to me. He was able to make the wedding (a month ago from tomorrow) but while on our honeymoon he got really sick and THANK GOODNESS he passed when we got back. He was 94 (would be 95 next week) but was the kindest and sweetest man. We're all hear to talk if you want to share some fond memories or just let out a cry!
ETA: Use next week the way he would have wanted it. You don't have to make a big deal out of things to make people sad but have a drink in his honor or ask the DJ/band to play the song he always loved. When my great uncle died 2 weeks ago we all went to the bar and those who drank, had a Bud in his honor (his favorite beer). Enjoy the day though and I'm SO sorry that it's a week before the wedding and you are sad!

am sorry for your loss. I know exactly what you are going through. My great aunt died and we had the funeral yesterday. I was really really close with her. I still can not believe she is gone.
