My hotel reservation deadline is in TWO days and only 4 reservations are made!

What do I do? How do I get people 'on the ball' to make their reservation? Why do I bother putting a darn accommodations card in the invite??

Have your parents and your FH's parents call their friends / family members to gently remind them. If they are your / FH's friends, pick up the phone or email them... Otherwise, they may miss out... Are there a lot of OOT guests coming?

I would not worry about this. You gave them the information and were kind enough to make sure they had a place to stay if they wanted to book a hotel.

If your guests don't take you up on it, I would not worry about it. You have a million other things to do

Hyatt told me 10 but i talked them down to 8

Jeesssh! I blocked 10 for the night before and 20 the night of and ended up with 42 for both nights

But we had a lot of OOT guests.

Do they need to be booked a month before or just before the wedding date? I know one of DH's friends booked like a day before....

they have to be booked 1 month before.....if they arent booked the rooms that arent filled get released for resale for other hotel guests. Then if my guests call for a room they dont get the discounted rate!

its such a crappy thing.....all these vendors see WEDDING and its just $$$$$$ to them!! This is all making me nuts!!!

Precisely. If they aren't considerate enough to make the arrangements within the time frame, that's their problem if rooms book up!

You are using the Hyatt in Hauppauge right? We are too. We blocked 20 rooms for Fri & Sat nights. Basically if all 20 weren't booked by a month before then they would release the rooms. We don't have to pay for unused rooms. Also, they guests aren't guaranteed the rate if they book after the date. They told us to book more than we needed because it is better to have more than not enough.

i completely agree! people need to be responsible, you're not their mother so don't worry about it.

i must say i had some procrastinating guests who booked AFTER the deadline at a reserved hotel that was more expensive and had alot less amenities and they sure learned their lesson! ;)

wow your lucky i was told 8 rooms must be filled for my wedding night or we must pay! we have i think 12 for that night..and 6 for the night before. But im reading my contract right now...it says if 8 rooms arent filled by Dec 5 (1 month b4 wedding) they will be relaesed for resale and we will have to pay our blocked room rate!
