My invitation is finally designed!

My invitation is finally designed!

Whew! We've been going back and forth all weekend with this, but finally everyone's happy This is the invitation and the RSVP postcard, they're going to be printed in navy on torn-edge ivory paper, then tucked into a butter-yellow pocketfold that will be tied with navy and ivory ribbons. I just removed our last names and address for safety purposes. I have a pre-printed direction card from Timber Point that will go in there too. I'm getting them from White Aisle, and Rebecca's done a great job. I can't wait to see how they look when they're printed. I did the basic design, and my dad helped out because he's great at lettering and calligraphy. He's going to address the envelopes for me and do the escort cards as well. Which is going to save us a bundle. But it was Rebecca from White Aisle who put it all together.

Also, my tiara came! I need to take some pictures of it. It's gorgeous, so delicate. I wasn't expecting it until March so it sat outside, unnoticed, overnight! Yikes. My mom came over after church and noticed it on the doorstep--my FH didn't see it when he came home in the dark and I was ill yesterday and never left the apartment.

No, no, my dad didn't do the calligraphy--he just consulted on what fonts we should use. That's all fonts: the script is Bickham and the block is Copperplate. The lily swishy motif thing was copied out of a Dover book of Art Nouveau designs. I'm not sure where the designer got the Postcard motif but it's probably from the same book. I found the lily motif and send her the book. We never discussed what we were going to do with the RSVP card, so she sent me a few things and I loved that one. Besides, it makes it obvious it's a postcard, because it's going to be bigger than the average postcard at 5'x7'. Cost more in postage, too! Oh well.

Anyway, my dad is going to address the envelopes for us, and he's going to do the escort cards.

Looks GREAT!!! Can I just make one suggestion? Just wanted to point out that 'technically' you only put Ms. Debra Smith & Mr. Gary Jones when they are married with the wife having kept her maiden name. Since you are not yet married, technically the RSVP address should just say Ms. Debra Smith and no '&' and then Mr. Gary Jones on the next line.

Doesn't really matter AT ALL, but some people like to know what the 'etiquette' rules say. But they are very nice!

You know, I didn't ask the designer to put that, I listed our names one over the other in the email where I gave the text, and didn't notice it later. I'll point it out, although she might have started printing. She'll probably hate to hear from me, I made a LOT of little changes over the weekend, including changing the font of our names after I told her to go ahead with the printing.

Thanks for pointing it out. I do appreciate it! The funny thing--I told someone something very similar the other day on another thread. She asked how to list her FH's mother and father and stepmother all as hosts, and I pointed out make sure NOT to use 'and' between the parents as it means they're married.

The colors alone are beautiful, and I love that rough edged paper. We're doing on menu's on something like that. The design all over is beautiful. And congrats on getting your Tiara too!!
