We sent our long distance ones and may wait for 8/12 to send out the rest bc of the new love stamps supposedly coming out that day? what stamps did everyone use? I had to use 57cent love stamps and a 3cent star stamp, bc the only 60cent stamp the post office had had a picture of HERCULES of all things on it!
stacydz- i dunno, just a little panic attack that there's no turning back now....not that I would want to - I just get all freaked out at things sometimes!

Oh god, don't talk about my stamps! I didn't even think of the additional 3 cent on the old 57 cent stamp JPSGIRL but the only one my PO had was the Arcadia National Park in Maine for 60 cents. It goes with my fall theme so it is OK BUT even better for the response, they offered me the rescue workers from 9/11 raising the flag OR Harry Houdini (like hi, I want the magician to SAVE me and make me disappear from my wedding)!!!!! LOL....So I chose the regular flag 37 cent one for the response. It really is JUST a stamp in the end. I joked with my BM that I should have just put a Porky Pig stamp on the envelope!!

I sent mine out a week ago today. We spent the day before addressing them on the computer and stuffing them. Let me tell you what a stressful 6 hours that was. But now the fun part is beginning, so far we have received 17 responses back and all of them so far are coming.

We just sent ours out last week - and I just got my first response back today!

I wanted to get them out asap so I didn't wait for the new love stamps - to be honest, I don't even care for them, so I just used the .60 Arcadia park ones. The guy at the PO told me they were off Mars though!!! Since when are there trees on Mars?! LOL

I used the Acadia national park stamps and the regular 37 cent stamps as well.

I was upset about it at first...but stacedz you're right...they're only stamps!

I sent mine out last week. Alittle early but we have a lot of out of country people who defintley want to come and we did not do save the date cards. I dropped them off at the Post Office Monday at 4:30pm and already started receiving responses on Wednseday!!!! For those of you who have not sent out your invites yet... drop them off in person at the Post Office and ask them to hand stamp them so they dont run them through the machine. They will stay pretty that way. I was so happy because everyone raved about the invites and totally loved my church and directional cards. It was a lot of work but definitely worth it.

It is funny you should say that Angie because I dropped them in the mailbox at my PO and my Mom got them yesterday and she said they didn't have the normal red 'wavy' stamp across my stamp, it was much smaller. They might do that for wedding invitations so they stay nice!

I'm happy that they handstamped them for you without being told to do it. They do look so much prettier and the machine they run the mail through can melt (Aack!!) certain things. To be safe I think a person should tell the Post Office personally to handstamp. Again, I'm happy they did it for you without being told! yeah! An extra little smile for you!

Yeah and that red dye can get all over, I have one at work and watch out!!! Good tip for all the girls who haven't mailed yet too!!

I dropped mine off at the PO and asked to have them 'Hand Cancelled'. The lady handed me the stamp and I had to do it!

But, I placed them perfectly on the envelope so at least I know they looked good.

Definitely have them hand done....that machine can rip some of the invites as well....

Mrs2Be, WOW, you had to do that? God, that is ridiculous, with all the money you pay for postage!?!?!?! Was that to say that if you want them handled well you must do it yourself because the PO won't?????!!!! That is crazy in my opinion!

Thought it was crazy at first...but I was in such a fog when I handed those invites over (it was a little scary, wasn't it??) that I just took the stamp and did it!

I'm sure I could have complained, but at least I know the stamp was done perfectly.

I won't let it get to me. But you're right...with the price of stamps these days and the fact that I couldn't even get Love stamps...it is ridiculous!

Oh well, they're out! And my neighbor walked over her RSVP card yesterday so she could be the first! So, I got one already!

Stace - They did it for me and they came out beautiful. I think it all comes down to who works at the Post Office and what kind of worker they are.

Good for you Mrs2Be, getting your first response, hand delivered no less! :) I am so anxious for people to get them this week. After I put them in the mailbox, I told my FH, hey you can't back out now!! But I did panic with the rain and what if the PO screws up, etc!

You didn't call the Post Office to ask them how hot it gets in there because you laminated the directional cards though right? No.... only a truly neurotic person like myself would do that... hint hint. Truly neurotic.... they thought i was crazy but were nice to me.
