My June 30th Wedding

Wow! The day finally came after planning for almost 2 years! If I had to sum it up in one or two words they would be spectacular or magnificent. Everyone kept saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to. At the end of the evening after the band leader was complimenting us I actually asked if he really thought our wedding was really that nice or is he just saying that and he replied, “we attend a lot of weddings and yours was truly incredible.” Made me feel really proud of all the time, effort and late nights that I put in to make sure everything was just the way I wanted it.

The day was perfect; it was about 80 degrees with a sunny sky. The pics my sister took with her digital camera are so nice it looks as if someone painted them.

Dresses: Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. They were really great. My wedding was 6/30 and I ordered my dress on 3/24. They had the dress in the first week of June and didn’t even charge any extra late fees. There was a lot of custom work that we added to the back of the dress and they did it all in a timely courteous manner. Girls dresses were from there too and two of my bridesmaids came in the week of the wedding and Bridal Reflections had everything done, perfectly by Friday.

Photographer: Doug from Patken. For some reason I liked him from the start and I was very happy with him on the wedding day. He really knew what he was doing and got it done in a professional manner. I understood that I hired him to do a job and he had that attitude the whole night. We just picked up our proofs today and they are magnificent! They were presented to us in a white album which truly impressed both our parents who were used to seeing them in a box.

Limo: Ultimate Class Limousines. We used the limos to go from hotel to Villa Lombardi’s and back to the hotel at the end of the night. I actually hired them two days before my wedding and even at the last minute they were absolutely the best price I received. Dealt with Matt and he was honest and a pleasure to deal with.

Flowers: Spitz and Peck. Well this is a story within itself. Let me first say that on my wedding day the flowers were superb and everyone was amazed with how beautiful they were. In the end I was very pleased with the flowers but not happy with all the aggravation I dealt with two days before my wedding. I hired Spitz and Peck based on their outstanding reputation that I had heard about from many satisfied customers. My advice for any bride would be to bring in pictures of flowers you want as close to what you want and make sure you are very specific with colors, flowers and sizes. When I told people the story of what I went through two days before my wedding they were shocked.

Reception: Villa Lombardi’s. Just cannot say enough about it. Everything from the moment they opened the limo door to when they carried my stuff to the limo at the end of the night was magical. They were truly attentive (even going to the restaurant to get a specific bottle of wine for me and pizza for my ring bearer) and five steps ahead the whole evening. I mean every time we got up from our table and came back our napkin was folded. We honestly didn’t have to do a thing other than smile. The food was outrageous and people could not believe there were seven entrée choices. They exceeded our expectations in every category.

Band: True Blue by Faze Four. The band was just incredible. Everyone raved about them. I didn’t give them any restrictions on what to play, I figured they do this all the time they know what they are doing and they truly did. It was a 10 piece band and every song they played sounded authentic. That was really important to us. There were a few songs where people thought it was a CD only to see that it was indeed our wonderful band singing their hearts out.
My brother-in-law who has been to many weddings and even worked at a catering hall said to me that this was truly the best wedding band he had ever heard.


I was so glad I obsessed about so many little details such as the topiary place card holders I made, the rose programs, the bubbles, the Godiva chocolates I wrapped that everyone, even the men, commented on how fantastic everything was and how the details were so nicely done. It was so nice to hear that one of my male colleagues described my wedding as “incredible” to my male assistant principal.

After all is said and done I wouldn’t want to do it again b/c things could never come out as perfect as they did on that day.

The memories are incredible and married life is wonderful!

You look BEAUTIFUL in your pics and your day sounds perfect! My FBIL got married at Villa Lombardis and they loved every minute of it as well. The menu was spectacular. I'm glad your day was everything you'd hoped it would be.
