Yesterday, I had to do one of the most difficult things ever. I had to put my kitty (the one in my avitar) to sleep. He had hemangiosarcoma...a very aggressive form of cancer.
He was only diagnosed two weeks ago. My FI and had hoped to have more time with him, although we knew the likelihood of him surviving until the holidays was slim.
We are so fortunate to have caring and compassionate vets. They have been wonderful and supportive during these difficult 3 weeks.
We have other animals in our home, so I have to take comfort in them.
I'm so sorry I can't imagine how you feel. It's my biggest fear to lose my kitty. I think he's the same as your late kitty - a Maine Coon.

My heart and tears are with you. I have had many great kitties and a few dogs too come in and out of my life. I'm so sorry. I have a tribute wall with all my pets pictures on it. They impact our lives so much. May you find comfort in his peace.

Thanks, everyone, for the hugs. I still walk in the house expecting to see him. I was okay on Saturday, but completely lost it Sunday morning. I just couldn't stop crying.
We currently have 9 cats--4 that are 'ours' and 5 that we are 'fostering,' or so my FI says (who is he kidding?). There is still plenty of furry love to spread around.
Juliet -- Sully is just too cute. Give him a hug from me.

Oh I am so, so sorry for your loss.
The kitty I grew up with .. I lost him to cancer after nearly 12 years .. right before Christmas in '98 .. he had a lump in his throat .. and he didn't get to put in much of a battle, either .. though he tried .. I still get very sad about it.
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Awww. I am sooo sorry!!! My dog was diagnosed with the same disease back in August. We had his Spleen removed since it had tumors on it. It's such an agressive cancer.. we're basically just spoiling him until the disease acts up again. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

My cat also had a non-cancerous tumor that could not be removed. They couldn't remove his spleen because of this other tumor. We only had two weeks between the time he was diagnosed and when we had to put him to sleep.
to your dog. Spoil him rotten! I hope he stays healthy for a long time.
