My latest obsession - help?! - updated with solution at bottom per SewDeb

Help! I really want this look minus the flowers (silk tulle veil) but I also want to wear a tiara and blusher. How can it be done?

Anyone do this? Have pics?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but I don't think it could be! I think the whole look about that is that it's this nice flowy drapy look and I don't think it would be the same at all if you had a blusher - would look too much like a traditional veil then. I don't really see a tiara would fit it either - maybe pretty hair pins,

I don't think you're being a wise guy at all.

I've been trying to figure this out since last night and can't picture it. But I do want the blusher since I want my dad to pull it back when he gives me away and I want FI to pull it back for the first kiss as newlyweds.

I have no idea why I'm so bothered by this but it occured to me after I contacted SewDeb about making the silk tulle veil.

Katrina--that is an awesome look!! Let me know if you figure out how to do it. I've also been having trouble fitting a tiara in with my ideal veil --like you, I want a double layer.

I love the look. I can see a tiara with it. Maybe a very small low tiara though.

i don't think you will acheive the same look if you add a tiara.

Her whole look is very natural and soft, the flower and the veil both compliment each other.

I think you can do it, and it can look good, but it won't be the same. JMHO.

Good luck!

Hmmm. Not sure how it will end up looking but maybe a detachable blusher - attached to the tiara?

This is the dress and tiara I'm thinking of plus the veil (part of it at least).

I'll have my hair smooth in the front though (like the veil pic) and maybe a couple of my highlights as tendrils the come out of the updo like in the bottom pic but without hair coming out at the front. Of course, my idea is to wear the veil at the front of the updo.

I think it may work better with a flat tiara, more headband -like, and the veil behind it.

I think this would work? It's about 1/4 inch high.

WHat about a removable blusher? It would just bea piece that goes over your whole head and wouldnlt intterupt the flow of a veil like that, and you're only wearing it for the 30 seconds you're walking down the aisle!

Yep, that's what I'm thinking. Not sure how it will end up looking with a detachable blusher.

Are detachable blushers attached to the tiara? front of it or back of it? Do they get pulled over the tiara? I don't get it?

OMG, how about we think exactly alike. I posted a thread on this same topic. Check it out.veil and hair question thread

That was my inspiration for my veil, but since then it changed. I want to wear a cathedral veil with a blusher too. But,I want the cathedral part to be removable and the blusher part to stay on. I'm wearing my veil behind though. Hey, I've been talking to sewdeb too. One of the reasons why I changed my mind about the veil is because the bride in the picture had a really simple dress so she needed that lovely veil to add some glamour. However, you (like me) have a more elaborate dress, and I decided that I want the dress to be the focus not the veil.

Anyways, maybe you can capture the look with a long blusher? Like close to fingertip length? I don't know if that would look right though, but it's an idea.

PS: I also want my FH to flip over the veil for the first kiss. I didn't know if anyone still did this. I've been wondering how it's going to work though if I want to do the unity candle....

Oh yeah, I'm not doing the flower.

Re: My latest obsession - help?!

That is sooo funny. We are thinking of the same veil and both contacting Deb about it. She must be overwhelmed. She did the veil in the picture. I sent her a copy of it and she told me it was one of her brides.

I think I will end up with a detachable blusher and an elbow length veil - which I will take off after the first dance (or after I dance with my dad).

I'm not sure how the detachable blusher part will work though.

Deb says the underlayer is the detachable part. I only want elbow length so from what I understand from Deb, if I have two layers (one for the blusher), the back part will be the detachable layer.

I guess it will sit just behind the tiara? one part will flip over my hair and the other part will flip over the tiara? The silk is very delicate though so I think I will have to be super careful with the tiara or choose a really low one. Then again, my hair will be high enough so the silk won't touch the tiara.

Dad will lift it and put it down then FI will lift take it off for the kiss.

It all sounds like it will work in theory but I think I will try on a few more veils tomorrow to see what I like.

Re: My latest obsession - help?!

Forgot to mention, since the back of the dress is sort or ornate and I don't want the veil too long in the back.

As for the blusher, it may be a little shorter than the back part (bottom layer) but not sure how much shorter. Deb said to make them different lengths but that was when I was considering just flipping the blusher back on top of the bottom layer. The silk is more dense than made man fabric and would hide my dress.

Now, since it will be detachable, it does not matter how short/long the blusher layer will be so long as It does not bunch up much when I'm carrying my bouquet.

I ordered samples from Hansson's today. Shweta is sending them asap.

Re: My latest obsession - help?! - Solution per Deb - use two combs

Okay - Deb says to try it with 2 combs. One come for the blusher that FI can take off and one comb for the back part of the veil.

I want that type of veil also! I didn't realize it would cause so many problems. I want a blusher too! What is the difference between this kind of veil and a regular veil? Is it that it is silk? Who do you go to to get these veils...i don't want to get it from my bridal salon- Klienfelds..,it will be an arm and a leg. Who is this girl SewDeb you ladies are refering to? Is she resonable? THANKS!!
