My May 27 Wedding at the Millerage Cottage

Original post by tcampsey

Just wanted to give an update on our May 27th wedding. It a word...'perfect'. It really was!! Everything went smoothly, NO major mishaps at all. We had a beautiful day, despite what the weathermen predicted. One word of advice, do not listen to the forcast...anything can happen. They said rain and it turned out to be a gorgeous sunny day in the low 70's...couldnt have been better. Someone heard our prayers!!

The church ceremony was amazing. We got married at St. Anthony's in East Northport by Father Jim who was truly wonderful. I barely even cried which was a real shocker to my family and to myself. One minor 'opps'....when it came time to exchange the rings, I put it on the wrong hand! I was so nervous and he put his right hand up, so I took it!! I didnt even realize it for about 10 minutes! It actually was funny and everyone had a good chuckle...broke the tension you could say.

The reception was at the Millerage Cottage. The cocktail hour was outside and was gorgeous! EVERYTHING was perfect..the food, the atmosphere, the flowers, Steve, the maiter d'. IT was just what I always pictured it to be. Our DJ..DJ Andy, was fantastic..no one stopped dancing for a moment. We booked an extra hour and I am so glad we did, the day just went so fast.

Overall, it was a dream come true. To this day, neighbors, friends and family keep coming over and calling me to say how wonderful it was. To all you Millerage brides, it truly is beautiful..dont worry about a thing, they do an amazing job! And to all brides, enjoy EVERY SECOND! It all seems so long ago...and was truly the best day of my life. Now I sit back and look at the pictures ..amazed at how much planning went into that one day. Let me tell you, it was definitly worth every minute....ITS A BLAST! AND...married life is awesome...so you have THAT to look forward to!

Dont be sorry for asking--I love talking about the wedding! Honestly, the reason we booked the cottage is because we felt is was so elegant. We felt the bubble vases with the six roses fit right in with that theme--simple and elegant. They were beautiful and my husband and I really didnt see the need to upgrade (of course, thats just our opinion). Yes, we did have a choice in color...either red or white. We chose white (again to go with the theme and 'look' of the room) but the red were very pretty too. Also, just so you know, they are yours to keep or distribute at the end of the night. We didnt know that until our wedding was over and everyone started to leave...when the maitre d' told us, we were scrambling to make sure some of our guests took them home. You might want to plan ahead a way to raffle them off or something...just a thought. I know your probably starting to feel nervous...but when it comes to the Millerage Cottage--dont worry, they really do a wonderful job! Good Luck!

tcampsey-Thank you for centerpiece info

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I think we would like the white also, as I think I will be having my girls carry white roses as well. You hit the nail on the head-'simple elegance' is the theme we are going with for the whole wedding. Sometimes less is more, you know?
I will definitely let you know if I have any more questions.
Thanks,
Helen

It turns out that the cottage house is for wedding over 175.. we were thinking our wedding would be like 130.. so we are going to see the carriage house which is for smaller affairs.. does anyone have any info on that???? HELP! :-)

How many tables did u have for 155 guests?

I'm having 150 guests (we think) and am wondering how many tables and how many guests are at each so that it doesn't look 'empty' in the room? thanks

We had 150 guests at the Milleridge and we had 15 tables. It was just fine, nothing to worry about.

The bubble vase does look very simple and elegant-- we had decided to upgrade only because I had my heart set on a ring of flowers-- def talk to the florist-- they were great -- we had incorporated the same flowers throughout everything--from the boutineers(still cant spell that) corsages, bouquets, centerpieces and cake flowers--they even upgraded our cocktail flowers on their own-- if you talk to them you can modify what is in the atrium usually at no charge--they did floating blue hydrangea for us since my flowergirls carried hydrangea--chris and sheryl are great at the florist

I just met with Chris and Sheryl at the florist yesterday. They are great. I also upgraded my centerpiece because I had my heart set on a tall, elevated centerpiece (it slipped my mind what they are really called). But the bubble vases are nice, too.

We just finalized the menu and the cake on Saturday and I requested Steve as the maitr'd. I am soooooo excited. We ending up upgrading to the 3-star menu. You only do this once, right? It is going to be amazing.......

That sounds so wonderful!! I hear that Steve is GREAT!! I can not wait to go on Sunday.. I am nervous already, trying to make sure I write down all the questions I have.. we are going to try out the Crest Hollow too.. you have to let me know how it all turns out!!!

I definitely will!!! I heard really good things about the Crest Hollow, too. As long as you don't mind having more than one wedding at a time.....

You should check out the Woodbury Country Club, too. It is across the down the block from the Crest Hollow.

Thank you.. I was thinking about that place also.. I used to work right across from the Fox Hollow, which i did not really care for, but I was thinking about the woodbury country club.. I did not know if they did weddings..

Re: Centerpiece info-Helen

I couldn't agree more about the 6 roses in the bubble vase, but of course it's a personal choice. I'll be married 1-year in August and had my wedding at the Cottage. It was Perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better place to get married (I had my ceremony there as well in the atrium)...

If anyone has any questions, pls feel free to email me at [email protected]

Milleridge brides really shouldn't worry themselves too much although it's natural, they really do a fabulous job...

I had Steve also and he was awesome and fun and understanding and helpful. Chris at the Florist Shop did our flowers and we LOVED them (he was our favorite vendor to work with other than the Milleridge itself).

Good Luck to All of you!

Re: Centerpiece question for tcampsey

Didn't you just get married?

DeniseMang Posted:

Didn't you get married this past April? I am so confused.............

Prices for the Millerage Cottage? And minimums?

I think I'm going to have about 75-100 people at my reception. Do you know if there is a room at the Millerage that can accomodate so few? And what the pp price is?
Thanks - and Congratulations on your beautiful day!
