My May 27 Wedding at the Millerage Cottage

My May 27 Wedding at the Millerage Cottage

Just wanted to give an update on our May 27th wedding. It a word...'perfect'. It really was!! Everything went smoothly, NO major mishaps at all. We had a beautiful day, despite what the weathermen predicted. One word of advice, do not listen to the forcast...anything can happen. They said rain and it turned out to be a gorgeous sunny day in the low 70's...couldnt have been better. Someone heard our prayers!!

The church ceremony was amazing. We got married at St. Anthony's in East Northport by Father Jim who was truly wonderful. I barely even cried which was a real shocker to my family and to myself. One minor 'opps'....when it came time to exchange the rings, I put it on the wrong hand! I was so nervous and he put his right hand up, so I took it!! I didnt even realize it for about 10 minutes! It actually was funny and everyone had a good chuckle...broke the tension you could say.

The reception was at the Millerage Cottage. The cocktail hour was outside and was gorgeous! EVERYTHING was perfect..the food, the atmosphere, the flowers, Steve, the maiter d'. IT was just what I always pictured it to be. Our DJ..DJ Andy, was fantastic..no one stopped dancing for a moment. We booked an extra hour and I am so glad we did, the day just went so fast.

Overall, it was a dream come true. To this day, neighbors, friends and family keep coming over and calling me to say how wonderful it was. To all you Millerage brides, it truly is beautiful..dont worry about a thing, they do an amazing job! And to all brides, enjoy EVERY SECOND! It all seems so long ago...and was truly the best day of my life. Now I sit back and look at the pictures ..amazed at how much planning went into that one day. Let me tell you, it was definitly worth every minute....ITS A BLAST! AND...married life is awesome...so you have THAT to look forward to!

I am so happy for you!! And, as a Milleridge bride-to-be, it's wonderful to hear that everything was perfect.
Can I ask where your dj was set up? Also, how many people did you have?

Congratulations to both of you; enjoy married life!!

another question for tcampsey

Hi,

We were thinking of having the extra hour also; would you say it was worth it?

Thanks,
Helen

Congratulations to you too. We got married on the same day. The lord was definitely hearing our prayers about the weather.

Springbride...My May 27 Wedding at the Millerage Cottage

We had the whole cottage so our DJ was set up directly across from the fireplace on the other side of the main room. I wasnt sure how that was going to look at first but it looked fine and really was the best option in my opinion (where else could he go?) As for the guests, we ended up having 155..even though we guaranteed 180 to get the whole cottage (we knew we would never make 180 anyway). The spacing of room and the tables was great...it didnt look empty at all as I thought it might. ALSO, My husband (now) and I DEFINITLY think the extra hour was worth it. The way we saw it..its the biggest day of our lives and we want it to last as long as possible...it just goes too quick! Several older people left a little early and that was fine with us...the rest of us danced until the last second and even then I wasnt ready for it to end. Also, if you dont meet your guarantee and want the extra hour, suggest that they perhaps throw it in for free since your paying for the guaranteed number of guests anyway. Thats what we did and they threw in the extra hour at no cost! Every savings counts when your planning a wedding! Good luck with everything!!

I am so happy to hear your day went so well. Our wedding is July 14th at the Milleridge. We are meeting with them this Saturday to finalize the menu. We are debating whether to go for the 3-star. What did you do?

Hi!

Just wondering if you were ever able to email that Milleridge room format to me. My email is [email protected]. If you can't for some reason that is fine. Don't mean to be a pain.

Thanks.

SO happy for you

do you have any suggestions, we are planning on having the wedding there.. how is the food, do they provide a good dj.. did you use your own? do they provide centerpieces, or can you bring your own.

I think you are referrinng to Millerage. If so, it is wonderful! The food is amazing...everyone still raves about it. If you are looking there, go for a tasting. They let you try a good variety of food so you can see for yourself. As for a DJ, Im sure they could refer you there 'house DJ's but I used my own...DJ Andy. He was WONDERFUL....would use him again in a second and definitly for future events. And yes, they come with the centerpieces..you can upgrade them but the 6 roses in the bubble vase our beautiful and elegant. Just the perfect touch! Any more questions, feel free to ask...I could rave about the Cottage forever! Good Luck!

Thank you so much!!! I am going to go there within the next week or so, my FH mom wants to make the centerpieces.. so i don't know how I will work that out.. do you have the phone number for DJ Andy.. I would like to give him a call to.. I am so happy to hear your wedding went so well!!! I looks like such a beautiful place!!!!! was your reception at the carriage house at milleridge? is that seperate from the milleridge?

Tami

The Milleridge has 3 different wedding reception areas. There is the Milleridge restaurant which is an old historical house, then the cottage house(which I think is the most popular) and then the carriage house. The carriage house is alot smaller than the cottage house and consists of only one room. They are all located at the same place but are in different buildings.

About the centerpieces, they told me if I wanted to have my own centerpieces, I could just put the ones they provide on the tables in the cocktail area.

Thank you so much.. I did not know the differance between the cottage house and the carriage house.. are you having your wedding there? or did you have it there already?

Tami - DJ Andy Info

Our reception was at the Millerage Cottage because of the number of guest...the carriage house holds less people. As for DJ Andy, his phone number is --631-673-5860 and his email address is [email protected] you have any questions. He is a REAL nice guy and caterers the music to what you want. He was awesome! Good Luck..

Your welcome. I am having my wedding there July 14th (one month from today!!) So far I have found them to be great. I especially liked the cottage house because you have the entire building all for your wedding. And the lobby have a very homey feel. Not to mention the room where the cocktail hour is, is beautiful and it is indoor/outdoor. If you have any more questions don't hesitate.

Centerpiece question for tcampsey

Hi, again,

Just wondering about the 6 roses in vase? It sounds wonderful to me, but fi isn't sure if we should upgrade or not? Would you say it was sufficient? I really don't want overly elaborate pieces on the tables. Also, did you have a choice of colors? When do you decide on color of roses?

Sorry so many questions, but now that it's less than a year away, I'm starting to get a little nervous about everything.

Thanks,
Helen
