My MIL has a set of brass ones and she was totally serious girls, she told me if DH and I are trying to have a baby that she is planning on going away to The Orient next February for 18 days and she will not cancel her trip no matter what and that me and DH should not even try 9 months before she leaves!! All she cares about is herself- she goes away at least 3 x a year on extravagant trips. The NERVE! We are not going to stop TTC because of her it is her loss if I get pregnant and she is away! Thanks for letting me vent!

I can't believe that!!! My IL's had an Alaskan cruise planned for the month we're due and once we told them it wasn't even a 2nd thought - they changed it right away. How inconsiderate of her! What did your DH think?

Ugh! I'm so ready for comments like that from my MIL and we're not even TTC!
but, jsut a word of advice - Please don't conceive a child to spite someone else... I mean i know you're trying anyway, but just the thought of a baby being brought into the world to make someone else unhappy makes me so sad....
When I was born, my father's mother had something to say about everything, including a name they were thinking about. My mother thought about naming me that just to get back at my grandmother and then thought what a horrible thing to do to a child...

that's terrible. my parents live in florida. if they would hear that i would give birth in the dead of winter, they would be hear. will this be her first grandchild. here, you wuold think she would put family first.

Wow! I'm sorry for butting in on this board too but i just can't believe your MIL would say that! Number one, you obviously don't have to arrange your life around her in any circumstances. Number two, she sounds so unloving and self-centered! Sorry you have to go through this!

Ok see now that is just not right. Some people just have no class. Girl, if you get pregnant and she dont want to stick around then its all on her and she will be the one missing out NOT you. I say let it slide and dont worry about it.
