My MOH has never heard of a Bridal Shower being a surprise!

My MOH has never heard of a Bridal Shower being a surprise!

She says that the bride has always been the one who's invited her to them, and wanted to know where I heard the surprise thing from. So she wants to tell me when it is so that I can clear my schedule, and wanted to know if the surprise factor was important to me - not that I would know anything about it, just the day. I said no, but I kinda want to change my answer, because knowing me I'll obsess over it if I know when it is. But I'm horrible with surprises.

Did you guys think that Bridal showers are supposed to be a surprise before you became a bride?

It may be an east coast thing because I live in CO now and nothing is a surprise here. Baby showers, wedding showers, etc. It is still fun for all though.

I will know about mine even if I have one in NY b/c I have to know when to be out there.

I did, but I learned these things the hard way....several years ago I was probably about 17.....well, I saw my pregnant cousin in the mall, and chatted with her for a bit.
Her baby shower was the next day and I had no idea that these things were supposed to be a surprise, so at the end I said 'Ok, I'll see you tomorrow'. Might I add, I don't see these cousins that often.

She didn't say anything, but this probably tipped her off. When I got home and I told my mom she was like, 'OH! Why did you say THAT?'

I've always thought showers were a surprise. Although a friend of mine had a bridal tea instead of a shower and it was not a surprise.

Invites to my shower went out without saying it was a surprise (because to her they ALWAYS are) and a friend actually emailed me about it. So I had to tell her 'I think I'm not supposed to know' ...

I don't think they have to be surprises, but they usually are. Or they try to be. Unless I'm the bride...then it's useless to try and surprise me... I'm too nosy!

I always thought they were supposed to be a surprise. I know my mom is planning mine, and anytime I talk about it, she acts like she has no idea what a shower is, or she'll say things like 'if you have a shower', that's how much she wants to keep it a surprise!

I think most are supposted to be a surprise, but it depends on the fam and the situation.

I made 'Shhh' seals when I threw my FH a surprise birthday party years ago. I also wrote a little poem on the invitation and I'm pretty sure it mentioned in Wong a surprise in the poem. It should be on the invite. Guests shouldn't have to worry about blowing it or wonder.

They def don't have to be a surprise, but that's the way a lot of people seem to go these days. As for baby showers, none of the ones I have been to or heard of have been a surprise.
