As soon as she heard we chose a yellow sponge cake with canolli filling, she was like 'WHY would you choose THAT?'
Well, we chose it because we originally wanted cheesecake, which our hall's bakery makes, but they said it falls apart too quickly to look nice... So we wanted something else italian and we figured not everyone would like cannoli cake so we'd go with a yellow cake instead and just use canolli with chocolate chips as fililng...
I don't even know why it's bothering me that my mother didn't like that cake we chose, but it really is. Maybe we should change it. She said even a lemon cake or something would be better. I don't know.

It's your wedding, do what you want. Your not going to be able to please everyone. Yellow cake and canolli filling sounds sooooo good

I love canoli cream. That's what FH's family always gets for parties and we may have it for our cake too. You can't please everyone, and since it's your wedding, it's your cake. Keep your choice.

I'd ignore her - and your satisfaction will be when your guests are ooohing and ahhhing at the taste of that yummy cake.
I agree. And not that it matters- the cake you picked is my favorite combination!
