We used to have one when I was a teenager. They are noisy dogs and very protective. They do not like people coming into the house if they don't live there (or at least our dog didn't). Our chihuahua was small - about 5-6 pounds, though I know they can be larger. JR, the chihuahua, was a very loving dog though and like to hump this one pillow or one of my sister's stuffed animals in the evening. He did this up to the day before he died. It will be interesting for you, to say the least. But they can be wonderful pets.

Chihuahuas ar absolutely the bestest bestest dogs to have!!!! (Unless you are EROXGIRL, who has a personal vendetta against Chihuahuas, and people who resemble them...long story...)

We have Luigi James, our long haired chuhuahua, who turned 8 years old today. He is a mushpot. He loves long, relaxing belly rubs and soaking up sun through the skylight of DAWNIE's old room at my mothers. He is a very finicky eater, and has had many tummy troubles in the past. Like most chihuahuas, make sure you clean their eyes and ears because they are very prone to infections. You would be too if your eyes were only six inches from the carpet! He has a very large fan club from LIW, Dani00518, EROXGIRL, JustABm, JENNY2PENNY, NYLISA, LISA04...they all love my Luigi~who is actually Dawnie's dog, but he is currently residing with his grandmother because Dawnie can't have pets...

THE PUPPYHEADS~

Next, Maximillion Bucks Bohn (Maxie, Maximillio, Puppy Boy, Maxi-Baby-Puppy-Boy). He is a crazy. He hates anyone who is under the age of 18. I don't know how we are going to introduce a baby in to our family, and our vet swears he has mental prolems. He was so spoiled that we had to go out and get another Chihuahua just to get him used to our 'sharing the love'. His favorite times are fetch and barking. However, he is a very brite dog who we often find pushing the ottoman across the floor to get to the article which is out of his reach (and which he is not supposed to be cheweing on...) He also is very shy and has a phobia of us watching him go to the bathroom. He makes us feel guilty and runs in to his bed if he catches us looking at him go on the paper. He is also very possesive of me and freaks out whenever Brian has his hand on me. He will nibble on Brian's hand, or just use his nose to bump it off of me. He is currently laying on the back of my chair with his head on my shoulder. Such a little mama's boy...Also, very spiteful. If you favor his brother, he'll tinkle in his food bowl... (GROSS!)

And lastly, our youngest (and the more attractive of the two), Elmo 'Baby Dog' Bohn (MoMo, Momalina, Mo, !ELMO!~when he is in trouble, Momalina Baby Dog, and our personal favorite~'Elmo~the White Trash' Puppy) He is a terror. He is all white in a dirty kind of way with a little heart shaped black nose, scrawny and cute as can be. Everyone loves him. He is always in trouble. He will one day lick us to death, licks our arms, legs, face, the carpet, the floor, his brother~Maxie, the sheets, the couch, etc., etc., etc... He has no flees, no dandruff, no skin conditions but he continues to lick and scratch and sniff. He is just gross. Lovable as they come. LOves to be held liek a baby, falls asleep as soon as you through a blanket over him and he makes our house sound like a pet shop beacsue he cries as soon as we leave. Not a simple EEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEE, but more like an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

and you can hear it upstairs im my FMIL and Future Aunt in Laws house. Very pitifull puppy. And lastly, you can never seperate him and Maxie. HE will cry the entire day away with real tears. As much as they play fight and real fight, he absolutely adores his brother... (By adoption, not by blood...) When I bring Maxie to the vet, I have to drag both otherwise he cries.
So sad...And he is very spiteful!!!!!! If Brian and I leave together to go out, 9/10 times, he will pee in our bed!

Ok, bad points? Their brains are the size of Walnuts....Try teaching a walnut to be walked on a leash! They are very good at paper training. Always clean their eyes and ears, do not over feed~they will get very sick. Always keep the house warm for them. They shoud not grow over 6 pounds. And the best suggestion is have two, purchased or adopted at teh same time. They will be more loving, less spitefull and won't annoy you to be picked up as much...also try and crate train, it'll get your dog on a schedule...

Let me know if you need any more info. As you can see, three dogs, three seperate personalities...

GOOD LUCK!

Re: My mom has adopted a Chihuahua!! Oh boy tell me all about having a Chihuahua..

there are 2 that come to the dog park we go to and they are very cute...but my very friendly, bigger than them dog always wants to greet them and they snip a bit when he does that...

the older one there is a loner...and will go off in the field and just investigate on his own...and he lifts his leg to pee on everything...even though nothing comes out...even our dog's head (while he was investigating under there!)

the other one snips a bit more, but it could be b/c the mom brings her 2 year old...so I think he is protective of her...
