my mom's screen came back positive for ovarian cancer

Not sure what it means yet -- her gyno called today to say that her screening came back positive for ovarian cancer. She said not to worry yet because there are a lot of false positives
She's going on Sunday for a sonagram, but im really worried. She's only 48. We dont have any previous family history with cancer so this is a shock to us. I'm just praying she's okay and that the test is wrong

I will keep her in my prayers...but the dr. is right (well duh..thats why they are doctors)...but it can be a false positive...so just lots of

Don't worry too much. My mom has had two of her tests come back positive and she went through all this testing and everything turned out fine.

thank you. that calms my nerves a little more knowing that its really possible for it to be a false positive. I was afraid it was something the doctor was just saying to make her not worry too much b4 sunday's sonogram.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My grandmother had ovarian cancer. There are so many advances in medicine now that IF something is wrong and it's caught early, they can do a lot.

So sorry....keep your fingers crossed.

try to hang in there & be strong for your mom until she finds out all of the facts..

God that is horrible to have to wait for that sonogram. Try to stay positive. Screening tests are notorious for giving false results... We'll all pray your mom's is too!!!!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I will be sure to update you as soon as I hear some news on Sunday. I think more than anything she is just scared right now
